Description (details & conditions):
Here is a Very nice 1955 Chevy at a very good price. It looks great and drives just as good. There is a little rust under the car, but you could drives this "Classic" for years and never know it was there. Chevys in this price bracket are hard to come by. It needs some small items done to it, but it's a very good driver to enjoy, as you work on it.
BODY...The body is super-straight and has no dents. It looks great too! There is a small amount of filler on the driver's side 1/4 panel just in front of the rear wheel.PAINT...The paint is about 12 years old and in very good shape. There are a few minor chips and scratches. It needs to be rubbed out and you could bring that old paint right back to life!
CHROME/STAINLESS...All of the stainless is intact, but there are of few very minor dings in it. These could be repaired and buffed out easily. There is some very minor pitting on the bezels and grille bar.
BUMPERS...The front bumper is bent on the driver's side. The back bumper is from a '55 wagon and is not a sedan bumper. The guards on the back bumper have some rust holes in them. Both bumpers have fairly good chrome.
GLASS...All of the glass is excellent, except for the windshield. The is a small chip it it, and there are some wiper scratches too.
WEATHERSTRIPPING...There is no door or trunk weatherstripping on the car. The window fur channels are in very good condition.
ENGINE...The 327 c.i., 300 HP engine starts and runs very good. I was told that it was over-hauled about 10 years ago and that it might not have been broke in correctly. I might use some oil! It has an Edlebrock aluminum intake. The radiator looks very good, and the radiator brace is intact (not cut apart like many '55s).
CARBURATOR...It has a 4-barrel carb.
TRANSMISSION....The 4-Speed works and shifts very well. It has a Daytona shifter.
EXHAUST...This classic comes with Headers and a very nice sounding muffler system. It's in very good shape!
BRAKES...This Chevy has a rare option of Factory Power Brakes (at least they look like Factory Brakes. I'm going to check into this). The brakes work very well.
TIRES...The 14" blackwall Radial tires are in very good condition.
WHEELS/HUBCAPS...The Binno aluminum wheels has some bad pitting on them.
INTERIOR...The interior is a "Highlight" of this car! It comes with a very nice 1955 Optional Del Ray interior! Over-all in great condition, but it does need some minor attention. I'm pretty sure it's not original.
SEATS...The seats are in excellent shape and sit well too!
DOOR PANELS...Excellent condition, but have been screwed on (not factory nailed on)
HEADLINER...It's in Very good condition, but could some minor cleaning.
CARPET...There are a couple of small holes and tears, but over-all in good shape.
DASH...The original dash is in good condition. It's missing the heater controls, but we have them. The car steers easily with a newer custom steering wheel.
INSTRUMENTS/ELECTRICAL...Here is where you will need to do some work on the car. The turn signals do not work (There is no lever and maybe some other parts missing in the steering column too.) The wipers also do not work. The headlights and dimmer work fine. There is an after-market Tach that works well. The heater works from a toggle switch located to the right of the radio.
RADIO...There is no radio in the car.
TRUNK...The trunk lid works well with the key. The floor is solid, but the are some sheet metal cracks near the shock mounts. The spare tire well is in nice shape. There is a jack and a small donut spare tire.
FRAME...It has a very solid frame.
FLOOR...There is some rust on the driver's side floor pan. It has been repaired with flat metal. The passenger side has a couple of small holes. The rockers are in very good shape, as are the body mounts!
RUST...Besides the rust in the floor pans, there is some rust in the trunk tail pan, and the floor braces under the car. Almost all of the unrestored '55s have rust in the ends of these braces.
