Description (details & conditions):
Here is one of the nicest '55s we've had the pleasure of selling. This is a very nice driver...both in looks and mechanical condition. You'll get lots of looks in this classic!
All ID tags are in place. You'll find nice additions to this classic in the form of "Stainless Disc Power" front brakes, electric wipers, front and rear sway bars.
BODY...The body is in Very Nice driver quality condition. There are NO major dents at all. There is a scratch about 5' long on the passenger side rocker. There is also a 1 1/2" scratch on the lower part of the passenger door. Both of these problems are noticeable, but not that serious. There is some body filler in front of the rear driver's side wheel well. It was done very nicely, and the car has over-all Very Straight Lines! PAINT...The white area shines very well. The maroon paint could use a little buffing in some areas, but it too is very good paint. The paint job is not show quality but it's very close.
CHROME/STAINLESS...All the stainless is in Great Shape. The chrome is Super too, except the right front side piece of the grille moulding. This piece has some pitting.
BUMPERS...The front bumper is almost show quality, VERY NICE! The rear bumper has a light surface scrath on it below the license plate.
GLASS...The windshield and back glass are excellent. The passenger door glass in cracked. The driver's door glass has a chip on the top edge, and the usual bubbling on the top edge also. The driver's side back glass has a crack about 1 1/2" long in it.
WEATHERSTRIPPING...The weatherstrpping is in excellent condition. Except, this car needs the window felt kits(there is no felt in the window currenty), and this is reason the passenger door window is cracked.
ENGINE...The 350 c.i. engine sound great! It has an altenator and a nice fan shroud. The only item that should be corrected under the hood, is that the battery is not mounted correctly. It should be mounted back on the firewall.
CARBURATOR....this classic comes with a Holley 4 bbl. carb.
TRANSMISSION...The 4-speed shifts very nice, ecxept there is a slight meshing when you put it into 4th gear. You could double clutch it to eliminate this problem. If you do not "Hot Rod" it, the transmission would last a long time like this, it has already. The rear end gears have been changed to 355 gears (originally had 370 gears), and the center section of the rear end is from a '62-'63 Chevy.
EXHAUST...The muffler system is very good shape. It has glass packs, but is very quiet inside the car. A thicker carpet could be the reason..
BRAKES...As stated earlier, this '55 comes with 'Stainless Steel" Front Power Disc brakes. An $800.00 retail kit! The rear brakes have conventional shoes.
TIRES....The radial, raised white lettered tires are almost new!
WHEELS/HUBCAPS...The slotted chrome wheels have just the slightest surface rust on them. Get down close to see it!
INTERIOR...The interior is over-all Very Nice. There are no tears in the seats or door panels. There is some fading on the upper outer edge of the front seats, and on the top of the back seat. It comes with 3 sets of seat belt in the rear...great for a child's car seat.
SEATS...The front seat is a later model seat, with splitt back and an armrest. The back seat is the recovered original style.
DOOR PANELS...The door panels are in excellent condition, and nicely done.
HEADLINER...The black felt-like headliner has had a couple of a tears resewn, but it's not that noticeable.
CARPET...The maroon carpet is excellent, and adds to the quiet running car.
DASH...The dash has a nice paint job. The original looking dash looks great, except where the CD player was installed. The two original knobs holes are showing.I have an idea to take care of the this problem. Talk to me about this.
INSTRUMENTS/ELECTRICAL...As stated earlier, this car is a driver and that means all the lights work, from the headlights, signal lights, dome light, to the gas tank and speedometer.
RADIO...The'55 has a newer Sony CD player that works great, and has rear shelf speakers for sound.
TRUNK...The trunk has a patch panel on the left side (which is a typical spot for rust in '55s). The rest of the trunk is excellent...spare tire well, and the rear trunk rail (where there is usually rust too).
FRAME...The frame is in great condition.
FLOOR...The floors are in very nice shape too!
UNDERCARRIAGE...Note... this '55 has aftermarket Front and Rear Sway bars installed! There is no emergency brake system in this car. The inner rocker panels have been repaired with steel panels, and it was done very nicely. The Chevrolet engineering problem of the rear shock mounts was corrected in this classic by welding a piece of angle iron to the frame and mounting the shocks to these pieces.
RUST...The only rust on this car is the typical rust on the floor braces. The full length brace that is just in front of the rear wheels has rusted ends. There is also some rust on the shorter floor braces. It's VERY HARD to get a 1955 Chevy that does not have this problem. You could go on without fixing this and drive the car for years!
