Exit... Stage Right: String Quartet Tribute to Rush
Well it was only a matter of time before we got string versions of Rush tunes. In fact, this one's late. Rachel Barton did it already when she covered The Spirit Of Radio. I kind of like her take a little better than the one on this cd, but it's definitely fun to listen to. I wish it was a full orchestral treatment with timpani and other classical percussion.

Still Crazy Soundtrack
I saw the movie Still Crazy a few months ago and loved the songs so much I searched out the soundtrack. I especially loved the song "All Over The World". Turns out the music was done by the guys from Foreigner and Squeeze.

Small Soldiers Promo
Told you I was a Rush fan. I finally found this promo cd that features an uneven remix of Rush's Tom Sawyer for the mediocre Small Soldiers movie.

Vapor Trails
All my friends know I'm a big Rush fan and here's their latest effort (the first Rush album in 5 years). They will be in concert here on August 1st and you can bet I'll be watching.

Family Values 2001 Tour
I bought this to hear Deadsy's version of Tom Sawyer. It's very odd and very good. I'd like to hear more of Deadsy in the future.

The Good Life
This is a collection of songs from an obscure 80s band. I heard a snippet of The House Is Burning Down while watching Brian DePalma's Body Double and I found it extremely haunting. I searched for it a few years ago with no success but now they have their own website explaining their mildly tragic history.

The People's Choice Music
The Most Wanted Song b/w The Most Unwanted Song
With tongue planted firmly in cheek, these fellows did statistical research to determine what we regard as the best features of a song and the worst. They then put all these together to form the statistically most wanted and unwanted songs. The result is hilarious. Rachel heard this on NPR and located it for my birthday. Thanks, honey! |
