My Thorens 124 Dream Plinth...

Besides these 'Mother-of-a-plinth' for the Garrards, it's design is also very suited to the vintage 124s, to help dissipate said motor-rumbles!

Thorens 124 Mark I (cream)

The 124s (both Mark variants) and the SME 3009 Series 2 (knife-edge bearing) is a classic combo! A Denon DL-103 MC cartridge is mounted.

another Classic 124 Mark 2 (grey)

A Mark 2 also on a heavy plywood laminate plinth, 12" Ortofon RMG 309 arm and SPU GME cartridge.... a combo that's helluva hard to beat, even with newer contemporary turntables... This particular deck uses the Tamura TKS83 for MC step-up, switchable load between 3 ohms and 40 ohms.

Awaiting for a partner...

made from layered plywood, this is a massive solid plinth! It strikes my interest that the arm board is further supported by 2 additional wood pieces, fitting into the chasis frame. The bottom also looks like it's felt-lined!
