Paperboy

one of video games true classics has got to be Paperboy.  everyone knows and loves this game.  but why is it that everyone LOVES this game????  it's probably because everyone can relate to it.  most games today are so far fetched and out of this world, but a game like paperboy is good old fashion REAL LIFE fun.  this page simply remembers all the things we love and can relate to in this game.

I never had my own paper route job.  probably because of where I live.  but my friend Nathan had one, and I regularly helped him deliver his papers.  this one summer I was always sleeping over at Nathan's house.  and the next morning, to my luck, it was time for Nathan to have to deliver his damn papers.  so I always got suckered into helping him.  at first I gladly helped him, but after numerous times of helping him I kind of stopped.   I would just walk with Nathan, talking to him and slowing him down, as he delivered his papers.  from having this little experience of delivering papers, playing a game like Paperboy brings back lots of memories.  all the obstacles me and Nathan went through....damn......it's a tough-ass job.....

PAPERBOY! WATCH OUT!! THERE'S AN OLD BITCH ON YOUR TAIL!!! ofcourse, me and Nathan didn't use bicycles.  paper route jobs like that are only in the movies.  we couldn't use bikes because we had to go right up to the house and put the paper in the mailbox.   that's when you'd sometimes encounter crazy people just like this lady to the left.   crazy old people.  they run out of their houses with butcher knives.   fuck.  I almost got killed once.  I was being chased by an old bitch and a furious mad dog.  like what the hell did I do?  sorry for delivering your paper ya old bag!  and as I said before, we didn't have bikes!  so we would just have to run for dear life.  in the game you got a damn bike and it's still hard to get away from old people and animals.  so just think about how hard it was for us......

CONSTRUCTION WORKER AT 12 O'CLOCK!!!!
aside from being chased, you also had to look out for lots of things in your way.  stuff like construction workers doing absolutely nothing in the middle of the sidewalk.  also those damn lawn mowers!   I can't stand people that leave their lawn mowers on and unattended.  they somehow drive off and attack poor paperboys like myself.    once I almost got my foot cut off by one of those fuckers.    you also gotta look out for those damn break dancers.  those guys won't stop dancing for anybody! damn lawn mowers....
probably what was the scariest thing about delivering the paper was that you always had to watch out for DEATH!  I mean,  your always terrified that he might sneak up behind you and kill you.  I was constantly looking behind me making sure Death wasn't there.  once I thought I saw him.....and I ran....I ran like hell......but not TO hell, for that would be where Death would gladly take me.... WATCH OUT FOR DEATH!!!!!
ah, yes, paperboy was a great game.   when I play it I constantly get flashbacks.  but when you apply to be a paperboy, you kind of know what your getting yourself into.  it's kind of like joining the army.  you might get killed.......
Paperboy was such a successful game that they made a sequel!!!!!  yeah!!!!!!!   and this time the challenges were even tougher!  and you could be a paperGIRL too!  yup girls do that shit too.  like teachers always stress out in school, if there's a World War 3, GIRLS are gonna have to FIGHT!
I think Paperboy 2 takes place in a more richer area of town.  that's probably why I never encountered many of these things.  I was just in a regular development.  but these houses are crazy.   people put these giant gargoyle statues that shoot lasers at you when your delivering the paper!  and some house have canons shooting canon balls at you!   thank god I never delivered to houses like that.
so there are some pretty crazy houses in some of them rich places.  but I'm not sure how many people like having dead people barried in front of their house.  having big tomb stones and shit.   it's freaky.

you still had to watch out for the obvious stuff.  like damn people and animals, but there were a few more additions to the game.  like damn hands that reach out for you from the sewers!

paperboy was a great game.  the realism of the game still amazes me today.  I'm still waiting for somebody to make a game where you cut the grass while avoiding demons, monsters, and animals with rabies.   now THAT would be a cool game!
