Only a Dream

She's drifting from my world as the cold wind blows past
It will cripple me, when it finally sinks in
There's a broken song in my head
She knows how I feel now, doesn't she?

Nowadays I'm angry, and nothing pretty will ever touch me
None as pretty as her, she never touched me
A gift of chocolate and honey, it breaks me at last
The wrapping lay on the floor, now
As torn and untouched as my heart

I will never know a freedom as sad as she proved to be
I will never see her again, not those eyes
Not that hair, not even the look of sadness she had
Not even of sadness, of a longing she knew I couldn't fulfill
Not again. Never again.

The smile seems so distant now, and I can see that she meant it
Bright future in those eyes, bright future it can't lie
It's so cold now, as I look at the ground, I've found her
It's not as fulfilling as I thought it would be
But I remember, that it's never supposed to be.
