Cherokee's Announcement
Hi my name is Cherokee and I am a 15 month old 54lbs. flashy fawn female. I have my natural ears and even my natural tail (it's long). The picture above was made to announce my arrival at my forever home (at that time I was 9 weeks and I weighed 7 lbs.).
My story begins like this:
My parents had been wanting a puppy for some time but they had my little brother Jason and felt they weren't ready for one until he was a bit older. Well he was going to be turning 5 at the time the discussion came about again and mommy agreed that the time was right. Mommy had to agree since she was the one that would be staying home with the new puppy. That's when the search began. Both Daddy and my Uncle Ricky wanted a Boxer because they felt we looked cool. Mommy didn't know what a Boxer was and didn't feel looking cool was a good enough reason. She wanted to make sure we'd be safe with Jason so off she headed to the computer. This computer thing is an amazing thing. So she searched and searched til she finally agreed that the Boxer was indeed the best breed for the family. Unfortunately they didn't know how to get one at that time so they put it off for a bit. They went to the local shelter but didn't have any luck. Mommy wanted a male fawn boxer and she wanted to name him Duke. (Go Figure?!) So one day they came across a pet store and there I was with 2 brindle brothers. Mommy wanted the color more than the gender so they took a look at me. It was love at first sight. Obviously mommy didn't do enough research to know that this was not the way to go about getting a Boxer (or any dog for that matter). Although she was wrong I was so happy that she found me. On our ride home we had to come up with a name for me since they weren't expecting to go home with a puppy and they didn't have a name for a girl. So the 5 of us were in the car and my new family was coming up with all types of names, even silly ones. My daddy got upset and said unless you're being serious don't say any more names.Mommy being silly every now and then would name a sign we'd drive by, store names etc. Then we drove by a Jeep Grand Cherokee and she said how about Cherokee? She wasn't being serious but to her surprise daddy said, "That sounds cool." Mom was surprised he agreed but after thinking about it liked the name too. So they had a vote and decided that Cherokee would be my name. My nickname is Chero and that's what most people that know me well call me. For it to sound right you have to roll the R. When mommy is upset with me she calls me Cherokee Mikaela. My Daddy's middle name is Michael, my skin brother's middle name is Michael. My great grandmother's name is Michaeline, My grandpa's middle name is Michael well you get the picture, mommy thought it would be funny to give me a version of the Michael also and that's how I became Cherokee Mikaela. Well now that you know my story I will pass you on to the new addition of our family. He's my little brother Apache and he was born a year and 2 days later than me.
Apache's Announcement
Hi my name is Apache and I am a 4 month old 30.7lbs. flashy fawn male. I have my natural floppy ears and a croped tail (it's a nub). The above picture was sent out to everyone to announce my arrival to my forever home (at that time I was 7 weeks and weighed 10.2 lbs.). Mommy says I'm going to be a BIG boy.
So here's my story:
After having Cherokee my parents realized that Boxers are WAY!!!!!!!!! cool. So naturally like most Boxer parents they wanted another. That's where I come in. Well they decided to wait til Cherokee was potty trained and a bit settled (as if that ever happens!)They were looking to adopt at a shelter but when they were going to do this Cherokee decided to get a little destructive. So they decided to wait some more. Then they decided that maybe the time was just not right and well the money was not there so they put the thought somewhere else. A lot had happened since they got Cherokee. For example mommy found this way cool place called Boxerworld. She learned so many things and met some really cool people. She spent every day there posting and reading and posting and reading... Then our skin brother Jason started school. Mommy likes to do a lot of volunteer work and she throws herself into every project whole heartedly so she got very busy. Then the events of September 11th hit very close to home for my family. So she with drew from the computer and spent a lot of time with school and, my Uncle and his school, our daddy and Cherokee and the house and the family, well she just didn't have the time to sit in front of the computer or the desire. Then she got in touch with one of our cool friends from Boxerworld. Her name is Andrea and mommy met her through Boxerworld, and guess what? Well she was getting a puppy. The best part was that the puppy she was getting was my brother Joe. The people who were supposed to get me couldn't do it at the last minute so she asked mommy if she'd be interested. Mommy told daddy and Daddy said Of Course!!!!!!!!! That's all that was needed to add me to the family. So then they needed a name for me. This time they wanted to be prepared. Mommy wanted a name to match Cherokee's, so she went online. She searched and searched and made a lists of names. Then she called daddy at work and he said he'd think about it. Out of all of them they liked Apache the best. They liked it because they could nickname me Patch. Although most of the time they call me Patchy. When mom is upset she calls me Al Pacino. She also says I'm mommy's little monster. (I think she means that in a cute way). She's a bit on the nutty side but we all love her anyway. So that is mine and my sister's beginning.
