what the band is
like :
In
the world of music about suicide, murders and killings, the punky
sound of No Doubt gives an happy riff to the ears of listeners. Band vocalist
Gwen Stefani, bassist Tony Kanal, guitarist Tom Dumont and drummer Adrian Young
put an reply to the fact that music doesn’t have to be saddening to be worthy
of listening. The band members came together in the summer of 1986. They, like
all new musicians, played at house parties and basement parties until their name
got around. Their first official show was at Fender's in
Long Beach
, CA in March of 1987.
This band has put out 6 albums. Their first album released in ‘92,
self-titled. Second album put out in ‘95, The
Beacon Street
Collection.
Tragic
Kingdom
, released in
October,‘95. Return of Saturn released April, 2000, and Rock Steady put out
December, 2001. And now the new album of their hit singles from 1992-2003 called
The Singles.
How it started :
Gwen
and Eric Stefani's parents loved folk music such as Bob. Music ran through the
household all their lives. Eric became obsessed with an English ska band called
Madness. Eric soon started singing and playing piano to his Madness albums. He
started getting vocal ideas and trying to persuade his thirteen year old sister,
Gwen, to sing his ideas while he played. In spring ‘87 Gwen, Eric and a friend
John Spence made a band. No doubt was one of John's favorite sayings and seemed
like a positive and happy expression to name themselves after, so No Doubt
became the name that this Emmy winning band has taken on. After a month they had
a drummer and a horns section and became a 7-piece band. Tony Kanal soon became
Bassist.. In little time before their big concert was to be performed, John
Spence committed suicide when he was only 18. Later the band found the Tom
Dumont, who became their new guitarist
