Straightedge, or Sxe(pronouced "sexy") is a movement started in the 1980's punk scene. A lot of people say that it was started by Minor Threat, because they're the ones who coined the term in their song, Straightedge. SXe is a system of beliefs. It's against the consumtion of alcohol, drugs, and promiscuous sex. It was started as a way to be different that the current self destructive punk scene, in which drug addictions were rampant.

Straightedge is not something that makes someone better than anyone else. It's something that should draw people together. The straightedge scene is there for support and there to have fun without alcohol and drugs. It's not about standing on a soapbox and condemning ohers for not following your ideas. It's a nonviolent movement, but some people have taken it to extremes and have hurt and killed others for have different beliefs.
