Shifter, center, or left side mount?

After adding the framework braces and deciding the seat placement, its time to think about the shifter. I decided I wanted mine to be center mount. I decided at the start that I would use a foot gas pedal instead of the hand throttle, so I will be able to use either hand to shift plus I will be able to rest either hand on long trips. I highly reccomend the foot throttle. It is so natural. Just like driveing your car. Lay your foot on it and go. I have used this set up on a 2300 mile 8 day vacation, and never had a problem being tired. Try it, you'll like it. Look closly at this photo and you will see where I made a mistake in the way I built my down tube brace for the front end. I had a couple people that I respected point out the same flow to me so I added some extra braces later to fix the problem. I should have brought the two down tubes out to the two main frame tubes instead of to the inside under the seat. This way may not ever had been a problem, but it was pointed out that the way I did it, caused a point where over time my Trike could begin to fold at that point. That is not a good thing. Make sure when you build that you think about how your Trike will act when driven hard. Build it strong and build it right.
