Kindred Souls - Part 18 -

Part Eighteen

Vincent waited patiently for Jesse to appear for breakfast. Finally the boy entered the room and sat down. “So, Jesse, Lindsey came to talk to me last night.”

Jesse choked on his mouthful of scrambled eggs.

“He was a bit riled up. Kept accusing me of forcing you to kiss him, or some such rot.” Vincent eyed Jesse. “You are keeping to you end of the bargain, aren’t you?”

Jesse swallowed his food, and nodded. “Yes, sir.”

“So tell me what happened.”

“Well, we were talking, and I kissed him. It was really quick. Then he asked me why. I said because I wanted to. He kissed me, but then he ran. He came back and I convinced him you had nothing to do with it.”

“Good, good. You’re going to work with me today. I’m sure Lindsey can use a break. After all, his first case is coming up and we wouldn’t want him too stressed, now would we?”

“No, Father.”

“Oh, and Jesse?”

“Yes?”

“Take it a little faster today, hmm?”

Xander watched Iam brushing his hair. “How long did it take to grow your hair out?” he asked curiously.

Iam looked up, startled. “I don’t remember. I’ve kept it long for years now.”

“I like it.” Iam blushed.

Just then Giles called for them, “You’re going to be late for school if you don’t hurry up!”

Lindsey was working through a stack of depositions when Jesse entered the room. “Jesse! Don’t you have school?”

“Father said I could come help you today,” said Jesse, moving into the room and taking a seat near Lindsey. “Has the trial date been set?”

“A week, Jesse. It’s in a week! I don’t know how I’m supposed to be ready,” Lindey sighed in exasperation. “What do they expect? A miracle.”

“No,” said Vincent from the door. “Just perfection. Now you boys try not to work yourselves to pieces. Jesse, I’ll be in my office if you need anything.”

Once Vincent had left, Lindsey dropped his head into his hands. “I’m doomed,” he moaned.

Jesse moved closer to Lindsey and tentatively placed his arms around the older boy. “You’re going to do fine, Linds. This is just a test.”

“Some test,” muttered Lindsey, but he relaxed into the embrace, pulling Jesse closer.

“Hey,” said Jesse. “You’re stressing out way too much. You need to relax.”

“Hmmm,” murmured Lindsey as Jesse pulled him into a deep kiss. “I feel pretty good right now.”

“You could feel better,” said a slightly panting Jesse.

Lindsey looked at the boy with shock and lust, “Here? Someone could walk in on us!”

Jesse looked at the floor, “If you don’t want to, it’s okay.”

Lindsey grasped Jesse’s chin and raised the teen’s head until blue eyes stared into brown. “God, Jesse, you don’t know how bad I want you, but I will not have our first time together be in a research room.”

Jesse’s voice quivered slightly with his next words, “How about your place then?”
