It just wouldn't be right to make a Chandler shrine and leave out Monica. Yes, Monica the love of Chandler's life. The two were always close throughout the entire series, but there were no real signs of anything romantic between them, unless you count the "not boyfriend material" sub-plot during the Beach episodes, until the season 4 finale.

Ross was getting married to Emily and all of the friends (except for an extremely pregnant Pheobe, the triplets remember?) headed over to London for the Wedding. During the rehearsal dinner a drunk man asked Monica if she was Ross' mom, which made Monica extremely depressed. Chandler spent most of the rest of the dinner consoling Monica. Then, that night the two ended up in bed together.

The original idea was to just have a London fling, but the two finally decided to keep on going about their romance while trying to keep it a secret from their friends. But eventually everyone found out and it really wasn't that weird, after all. Later while taking a vacation in Las Vegas, they decided to get married. While waiting their turn at the chapel, they discovered Ross and Rachel (who were very drunk) had just gotten married. Of course, this screwed everything up...but they weren't ready anyway, so it was okay. Instead of getting married, they decided to move in together early in the sixth season.

Everything was going normally, until one day Phoebe announced that she had tickets to an art show at the Morgan Chase museum. Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe all went to the show and overheard a Museum official planning a wedding in the museum. The three girls inquired about holding weddings in the museum, to discover there was a two-year waiting list. Figuring that by the time two years had rolled around Chandler would want to marry Monica, they put Monica's name down on the list.

Of course, that night Chandler was sitting and reading the paper when Monica got a call from the museum, letting her know that their had been a cancellation and the Museum was available for the Bing-Geller wedding. Of course, Chandler freaked out and when Monica got back home he kind of...left, all angry at her. So, it was a complete and total surprise when Phoebe asked if the official had shown Chandler the place and he said it was beautiful. Of course the studio audience went totally wild when Phoebe said, "I can’t believe you’re gonna ask Monica to marry you!" at the very end of the episode. But of course...something screws that up too. xx;;

Everyone except Monica knows that Chandler was about to propose. He planned to do it at Monica's favorite restaurant, but they bumped into Richard there, which derailed his plans. Returning home, the rest of the gang almost blew the secret, and Chandler decided to act like marriage was the furthest thing from his mind, so Monica woudn't get suspicious. Then, out of nowhere, Richard appeared at Monica's resteraunt and announced that he was still in love with her and wanted to marry her. Monica was confused and didn't know if she should accept Richard's proposal and start the rest of her entire life with him or stay with Chandler who really didn't know if he wanted to get married at all. Monica came home and consulted Joey, explaining her problem with Chandler and Richard.

Finally, Monica found out that Chandler was about to propose from Joey (Yeah, I know. Great way to find out, huh?). Monica got Joey to make up this story about her leaving the apartment to go stay with her parents so Chandler wouldn't suspect that she knew anything. In the meantime, Phoebe and Monica put out (what appeared to be) Phoebe's entire candle collection and waited for Chandler to come home.

Chandler arrived, searching wildly for Monica all over the place. Joey relays the story to Chandler and dissapointed, Chandler entered the apartment to a million candles and...Monica. What follows is the transcript of the proposal scene.

Monica: You wanted it to be a surprise.
(He turns to look at Joey who smiles slyly and closes the door leaving them alone.)
Chandler: Oh my God.
(Monica gets down on one knee.)
Monica: Chandler… In all my life… I never thought I would be so lucky. (Starting to cry.) As to…fall in love with my best…my best… There’s a reason why girls don’t do this!
Chandler: Okay! (He joins her on one knee) Okay! Okay! Oh God, I thought… (Starting to cry, pauses) Wait a minute, I-I can do this. (Pause) I thought that it mattered what I said or where I said it. Then I realized the only thing that matters is that you, (Pause) you make me happier than I ever thought I could be. (Starting to cry again.) And if you’ll let me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way. (Pause as he gets out the ring.) Monica, will you marry me?
Monica: Yes.
(The crowd goes wild as he puts the ring on her finger. They hug and kiss this time as an engaged couple.)
Monica: I knew you were likely to take a wife!
(They hug again.)
Joey: (yelling through the door) Can we come it yet?! We’re dying out here!
Monica: Come in! Come in! (Joey, Rachel, and Phoebe burst through the door.) We’re engaged!!!
(Everyone screams and has a group hug.)
Rachel: Ohhh, this is the least jealous I’ve ever been!
Phoebe: Oh no wait no, this is wrong! Ross isn’t here!
Monica: Oh…
Rachel: Oh hell, he’s done this three times! He knows what its about!
Joey: Yeah!
(They all hug again.)

And so the plans began for the (certainly in my mind) biggest wedding of the year. During the months of planning Chandler didn't freak out once, well...at least not until the night of the Rehearsal dinner, after hearing the greeting message that Monica had recorded on the awnsering machine. The very day of the Wedding (May 15th, 2001) he ran out, leaving Phoebe and Ross to find him and keep him in control for the wedding. At the exact same time, Joey (who was supposed to be serving as minister for the Wedding) was stuck on the set of his new World War I movie. Chandler manages to run off again and overhear Phoebe and Rachel talking about finding a new minister and Monica being (dun dun DUNN!) pregnant. Chandler freaks out again but happens to pass a gift shop while trying to make another great escape from the Wedding site, and buys tiny 'I Love NY' baby jumper to give to Monica figuring that anything that could fit into something as tiny as that couldn't be scary. And now, the Wedding transcript:

[Scene: The moment we waited for has finally arrived. It’s time for Monica and Chandler’s wedding. We’ve got violins playing Every Breath You Take, we’ve got guests seated, and Chandler starts walking down the aisle with his parents on either arm.]
Mr. Bing: Our little boy is getting married.
Mrs. Bing: Oh look at you! So handsome!
Chandler: You look beautiful mom. (His dad clears his throat.) You look beautiful too dad. I love you both. (He kisses his dad on the cheek) I’m so glad you're here. (He kisses his mom.)
(He walks up onto the altar and notices the rabbi.)
The Rabbi: Are you Chandler?
Chandler: Are you Joey?
(Ross walks down the aisle with Phoebe and Rachel on his arms.)
Ross: Huh. This is nice.
Phoebe: What?
Ross: I’ve never walked down the aisle knowing it can’t end in divorce.
(Finally, Monica with her parents on her arms start down the aisle.)
Mrs. Geller: Oh I wish your grandmother had lived to see this.
Monica: She’s right there.
Mrs. Geller: Not that old crow, my mother. (They stop and she kisses Monica on the cheek.) Congratulations darling.
Mr. Geller: I love you sweetheart. (He kisses her and they sit down.)
(Chandler steps off the altar to greet his bride-to-be.)
Chandler: You look beautiful. Is this new? (Her dress.)
Monica: Not now.
Chandler: Okay.
(They both step up onto the altar and she notices the rabbi.)
Monica: (To Chandler) Who is this?
The Rabbi: I am Father Kalebasous.
Chandler: (in Monica’s ear) He’s Greek Orthodox.
Rachel: (leaning in) As are you…
The Rabbi: Let us begin. Dearly beloved…
Joey: (entering) That’s my line! (He walks up the aisle and to the rabbi) I can take it from here, thanks. (To all) Dearly beloved, I’m sorry I’m a little late. You may be confused by this now, (He’s still in costume) but you won’t be Memorial Day weekend 2002. Well, let’s get started before the groom takes off again. Huh? (Monica is shocked and looks around.) We are gathered here today, to join this man and this woman in the bonds of holy matrimony. I’ve known Monica and Chandler for a long time, and I can not imagine two people more perfect for each other. And now, as I’ve left my notes in my dressing room, we shall proceed to the vows. Monica?
(She turns to get her vows from Rachel.)
Monica: (To Rachel) He took off?
Rachel: Go on! Go on. (She turns back to Chandler.)
Monica: Chandler, for so long I…I wondered if I would ever find my prince, my soul mate. Then three years ago, at another wedding I turned to a friend for comfort. And instead, I found everything that I’d ever been looking for my whole life. And now…here we are…with our future before us…and I only want to spend it with you, my prince, my soul mate, my friend. Unless you don’t want to. You go!
Joey: Chandler?
(Ross leans in to give Chandler his vows.)
Chandler: (To Ross) No, that’s okay. (Ross nods and retreats.) Monica I thought this was going to be the most difficult thing I ever had to do. But when I saw you walking down that aisle I realized how simple it was. I love you. Any surprises that come our way, it’s okay, because I will always love you. You are the person I was meant to spend the rest of my life with. You wanna know if I’m sure? (He leans in and kisses her.)
Joey: You may now kiss the bride. So, I guess by the powers vested in me by the state of New York and the Internet guys, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Oh wait! Do you take each other?
Chandler: I do.
Monica: I do.
Joey: Yeah you do!
Ross: Rings?
Joey: Aw crap! Okay—uh…uh let’s-let’s do the rings.
(Chandler and Monica both turn, take the rings from Ross and Rachel respectively, and place them on each other’s fingers.)
Joey: We good? Yeah? Good? Once again, I pronounce you husband and wife. (To Chandler) Now kiss her again.
(They kiss and everyone applauds.)
Chandler: (To Monica) I love you. And I know about the baby.
Monica: What baby?
Chandler: Our baby.
Monica: We have a baby?
Chandler: Phoebe found your pregnancy test in the trash.
Monica: I didn’t take a pregnancy test.

And so, there is no baby! Ahem. So, Monica & Chandler were married and started the rest of their lives together by going on a long honeymoon. Not much has happened since then, except for the announcement that Chandler & Monica were going to start trying for a baby now that Ross & Rachel have Emma and all... Yeah.
