Before the Academy A witch or wizard leaves his/her family at the age of 11 to go to the Academy, but what happens before then? It's not surprising that most of the new students come to the Academy as spoiled little brats who are welcomed into a rude awakening as they step through the doors and meet with hundreds of other spoiled little kids and ex-spoiled little kids. At the beginning of their life, unless there are other magical children around, a child raised in the Muggle world may not have many friends because normal kids may be afraid of a witch or wizard. It's not unusual for a young witch or wizard to come into the Academy feeling really aloof or set apart from everyone else but they usually learn their place within the first few days. Upperclassmen are not above 'initiating' the newbies. Classes Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, Herbology, and Astronomy are the six required classes, that students begin to take in their first years and don't finish till 7th year. Care of Magical Creatures, Alchemy, and Divination are picked up in the 3rd year as electives. The Academy also offers a Flying Class to it's first years. Sports Augurey's students do play the magical game of Quidditch, in fact it dominates all of the Academy's sporting events. Each of the houses have a house team with 7 players (3 chasers, 2 beaters, 1 keeper, and 1 seeker), all in second year and up, as first years are not to play Quidditch under any circumstances. Quidditch matches involve the entire school, inculding the faculty and staff. Every house is expected to participate in cheering it's own team along, and all students, no matter what teams are playing, are expected at the field. Teachers The majority of the teachers at Augurey are graduated witches and wizards who took their own magical schooling at Augurey. In order to become a professor at the Academy, a witch or wizard has to have shown above excellent performance in a class. Guardians Not all students bring pets or familiers to the school with them, but most do. These animals may include cats, owls, toads, rats, and any other number of animals. The Academy is terribly fond of cats, and strays can be found almost everywhere on the grounds and inside the school. The only place that doesn't permit cats is the school's library and a few classrooms. Owls are kept in the owlery, most of time, and are only permitted to deliver mail during breakfast and after class hours. The Uniforms Students: Augurey's uniforms consist of grey flannel skirts and trousers, white shirts and striped ties. Outside students wear black over-cloaks which button up the front, with their house crest on the right side of the uniform. During the fall and winter months the students wear scarves in their house colors, each scarf has a total of twenty-one stripes (eleven darker-colored and ten light-colored stripes) and eleven separate tassels at the ends (six dark and five light). Pictures coming soon. Staff: The staff get to make up their own outfits. Go them. The only requirement is that they wear some type of cloak during class hours. After the Academy Witches and Wizards are offered a great number of important positions after their schooling years. They may become proffessers at Augurey, they may also become senators in the American Wizarding Government, guards at America's own wizard's prison, generals, and other political positions. They pretty much have safe and secure lives to look forward to after their schooling years. And the Original Crew... Are still in Great Britian leading "normal" lives, well as normal as life can be for witches and wizards. The chances of the original Potter crew meeting up with the Augurey Students and Staff are VERY slim...
