Never have we been to
such a large show, tractors, steam engines, Shire horses, two fun fairs, beer
tents, live stage & of course Dave was there too. 250 acres of non stop
entertainment for every taste with over 100,000 visitors during the three days. We parked up our camper van on the traders site
late on Thursday night, my good mate Kev came along with us. I felt like the safest
guy on the planet what with Dave on one side and Kev on the other. Kev was in
the French Foreign Legion for twenty one years, he is one of the most decorated
for his services & has become a really cool mate
.
Kev wanted to sleep outside in a tent rather than in the camper van & wanted a
cold shower in the morning, strange that? So when he popped into the shower
block I nipped out and switched off the power supply to make sure it really was
cold, only to hear him saying "Oh yes this is great" for 10 minutes. I thought
he was joking, well that one backfired on me! To begin with I introduced Kev as
my friend but soon after changed that to good friend & bodyguard when I realised
he was watching my every move and sticking so close to me over the three days.
We met up with all the
guys from Maximum leisure
on Friday and
took a few strolls around the venue, all in all we had a great day. We
especially enjoyed the live acts on stage which included The Cheeky Girls and as
usual the show was excellently compared by Del Boy and Barely Connolly! Dave
turned up with Storm and Gary in the early evening and spent an hour or so with
us in the camper catching up on all the gossip. Dave showed me the very first
hardback copy of F**K the Ride due out on the 29th July, order your copy now!
Late Friday evening Kev and I thought we should start promoting Dave's
appearance and headed straight for the Kent police stand, what a giggle that
was, funny though, all the posters we had doctored were gone the next morning,
don't think the police appreciated our sense of humour! (see pics below)
Saturday morning we set up Dave's stall and proceeded to place promotion and
posters all over the show.
Dave had a very busy day on Saturday, he was surrounded by fans all the time, everyone of them eager to meet him and admire his bike. That evening Two To Go were magnificent live on stage and are truly nice people, we look forward to seeing them again soon, it was great to catch up with all the bands from last year, especially Fifth Base. We arrived back home very late Saturday, knackered of course, but we had all enjoyed the weekend and can't wait for the next one! Check out which shows Dave will be at on the audience with page.
