New England's Staind formed in November 1995, but didn't
get their break until two years later when Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, blown away
by a live performance and a demo tape, invited Staind down to his Jacksonville,
Fla., home for a jam session. With Durst's help, the band recorded a 3-song
sampler and landed a recording deal with Jordan Schur and Flip Records, who
signed the band in the spring of 1998.
After a stint on the Vans Warped Tour, Staind entered the studio to record
their full-length debut. Dysfunctional, released on Flip/Elektra, hit
record store shelves in April 1999.
Staind's second and most recent effort, Break The Cycle, was released
in May 2001. The album was a huge commerical success, selling over a million
copies in its first two weeks of release and spending weeks at number one on the
Billboard album charts. |
