Conker Live & Reloaded Review
Conker Live & Reloaded Review By: Mr. Cribby
It's finally here for Xbox! But is it any good?

The most wanted game is finally here, the project first started back in 2002. Microsoft bought Rareware now known as Rare. There were tons of rumors that Conker was coming out to Game Cube. That never happened though, Conker jumped in with big boys on Xbox. First called Conker Online, then Conker Live & Uncut back in 2003. Then in 2004 Rare gave the squirrel a makeover and called it Conker Live & Reloaded. With amazing new technology and advanced hardware Rare took Conker to a new level. The Conker team worked hard on this game for a long time, I’m very glad Rare chose to remake the classic Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Probably one of the greatest games that I have ever played. That’s why I’m here working on this site after all, to show my love for the squirrel. Now the people that never got the play the old one, have a chance to enjoy all it’s glory again. Some fans of the original will be pleased to have a completely redone game and huge multiplayer that is story driven! Some will be very disappointed... others might enjoy the game. Read On for more!

Now on to the remake, does it beat the N64 version? The game looks so much more detailed than before. Conker has fur, some other character’s even have fur too. The lighting effects and shadows are simply amazing. Trees, grass, and flowers all look just dandy now in the game. There is a lot of loading in the game though, almost every single room you walk in has a loading screen. It’s good that there very short ones though, but they are very annoying. They can sometimes take you out of the action. I’m very impressed with high quality textures in the game. Nothing in this game looks cheap. Well maybe Conker’s eyelids, but who really cares? I sure don’t. Rare did a nice job on doing Conker’s animations and all of the other characters too. Character’s look and feel like they’ve been reborn now. One thing I didn’t like was how they completely censored language the game. Sure it’s still funny, but this game is even more censored than the N64 version. I was able to unlock potty mouth by completing the single player mode. It was worth it though, and they really say it too. ( Note Potty Mouth works only for Multiplayer, it does not Uncensor the Single player mode. ) Now let’s talk about the sound in this game. They redid a lot of the old Conker’s BFD songs for the game. Which is great! Robin Beanland did a terrific job on the music. Rock Solid Song has to be the coolest song ever created!

Make sure you buy that CLR Soundtrack this July 12th! You’ll still hear those catchy tunes that were in the old one, and now they sound even better. Conker still sounds the same, he says a few new things in the game. Some characters sound very different now too. There are a few surprises in the game, that never happened in Conker’s BFD, but not really much. Story is pretty much the same as Conker’s BFD. Some parts of the game are a lot easier than before, and some parts were completely taken out. The part with the electric eel was taken out. Game is good, but CBFD I think was better. There are some new enemies that bother you in the game like the armored imp guys all over the game now. You know those annoying guys that you have to smack with a wooden nail bat now. ( The frying pan is no longer used in the game now, only at the beginng training level ) They are all over the game in Windy, Poo Cabin, Uga Buga, Bee Hive, you name it. The good thing is you only have to kill them once. Takes 6 hits or you can combo hit them. Then there are these freaky possessed doll babies running around in some levels. So how does the game play? Well I’ll have to say it plays fine. I had no problems at all with the camera. I don’t think swimming is hard at all, it’s actually quite fun to swim. The Tank controls and surf board controls are very hard to get use to though. You will be cursing like a sailor at those parts!

The multiplayer controls are pretty easy to figure out; it might take you some time to get the feel of how to play though. You can’t just run out in the middle of the area and expect to kill everyone easily. (Unless you’re a Demolisher) It will take some practice. You’ve got 6 classes to choose from too. There’s the Skyjockey, Long Ranger, Grunt, Demolisher, Thermophile, and Sneaker. All are very fun to use. You’ve also got the Xbox Live modes Old War and Future War now too. The old multiplayer modes from Conker’s BFD are not in the game. You can play with a friend now in co-op or versus. ( The split screen in there is very hard to see what your doing too ) There is no 4 player split screen support, that would have been nice to have, but I don't think it would have worked well at all. There is also no Clan support or Squad support in the game either. There are only 8 levels to choose from. That’s not many, but there pretty good! Hopefully in the future if the game does good, there will be some downloadable content for the game on Xbox Live. The entire Chapter X and all of the Old War and Future War are all story driven. There’s a bunch of cut scenes to look forward to in the multiplayer and great action! You can get medals, weapons upgrades, and you can unlock other goodies online. CLR will disappoint some long time fans of Conker, it will make some new comers happy. Conker Live & Reloaded is like a Special Edition of Conker's BFD. It's ok, but it's not amazing like I had hoped. That’s my review of Conker Live & Reloaded. It’s good remake, but not close to the original. So if you never played Conker’s BFD try the game. If you’re a long time fan of Conker, you might enjoy it, some might be disappointed though.

Let's hope to see more of the squirrel on Xbox 360!

Pros:

+ Amazing graphics engine

+ Outstanding Sound and Voice Work

+ Tons of Blood, Gore, and violence!

+ Hilarious Story and characters

+ Addictive Online and Offline play

+ Bosses you’ll never forget

Cons:

- Frequent Load Times in the game

- No old multiplayer modes from Conker’s BFD :(

- No Clan support or squads? WTF Mate

- Annoying Armored Guys all over the game

- Multiplayer objectives can get confusing at times

- Why did Rare censor this game more than N64 version?

- Terrible Split-Screen mode for 2 players

- Bad Controls in some parts of the game

- Not enough Multiplayer Maps

- May disappoint long time Conker fans

----My opinion changed over time, so I have changed my score. This is how I really feel about the game. I only gave it a high score before so people wouldn't curse me out.----

Overall 7.5/10

P.S. If your wondering the Halo magazine was changed to Fur Only and the GBA SP was removed from the game. Conker now plays a new looking handheld system instead
