As Bill begins his journey to Schmidt Commons, better known to the peasants and prisoners as "Ding," he can't help but wonder why such thoughts were going through his mind. He walks on through the cold wind and rain, casually glancing at the ground as he moves.
Suddenly, a strange, minute shape in a sidewalk crack draws his attention. He stops walking momentarily to examine the object. Reaching down to retrieve it, he discovers what was so intriguing to him: A LOCK PICK! He slips it into his pocket and continues on his way to consume whatever monolithic horrors that Ding has in store for him.
