Hardware consists of equipment in five catagories: input, output, proccessing and memory, secondary storage, and communications. Input is by means of keyboard, pointing, scanning, and voice recgnition devices. Output is by screen, printer an sound. Proccessing and memory hardware consists fo the CPU and memory. Secondary storage stores data on floppy-disk, had disk, optical-disk, and magnetic-tape devices. Communication devices include modems, cable, and fax modems. Hardware is what most people think of when they picture computers. Hardware consists of all machinery and equipment. In a computer system, the dardware includes, among other devices, the keyboard, the screen, the printer, and the computer or processing device itself. |
