*~*Morning*~*
Lance and Joey were the first ones to wake up.
"Hey Lance, wanna go to the girls' house and pick them up so we can do something today?"-Joey.
"Sounds good to me."-Lance.
As they headed out to Joey's car, Lance asked, "Is JC still asleep?"
"Yeah, I think so. You know how he is."-Joey.
As they pulled up to the girls driveway, Alexis ran out. "Hey guys!"
"How's everyone doing?"-Lance said as they walked inside.
"Well, Skylar's eating and Hailey and Justin are still asleep."-Alexis.
"We'll have to wake them up then."-Joey.
Lance walked back to the kitchen.
"Where's Hailey's room?"-Joey asked with a grin.
"Oh, you're bad!"-Alexis said giggling as she led the way.
They crept into Hailey's room. "Aw, isn't that sweet?"-Alexis.
"Yeah. Well, watch this."-Joey said as he jumped onto the bed and kept jumping up and down.
Hailey jumped up and walked into the bathroom still somewhat asleep. Alexis was laughing hysterically. Justin laid there and pulled a pillow up over his head.
"Joey, you better get off the bed right now, or you'll be sorry."-Justin mumbled from beneath the pillow.
"Ooh. Justy is tired I guess. Well, IT'S TIME TO GET UP!!"-Joey yelled as he grabbed the pillow and began hitting Justin with it.
"I'M UP! STOP IT!"-Justin yelled back.
"Oh, OK, C-Ya!"-Joey said as he jumped off the bed and took Alexis's hand and headed out to the kitchen.
Hailey walked out of the bathroom and sat next to Justin on the bed. "Still not up?"-Hailey.
Justin pulled the pillow off his face. "I'm gonna kill Joey."
She smiled then leaned down and kissed him before she got up and got dressed. She wore black flares and an orange spaghetti-strapped top with her black Nikes. Justin got up and put his shirt on. Then they walked out to the kitchen.
"Yo, Where's JC?"-Hailey.
Everyone was eating breakfast. Hailey grabbed the OJ and Justin was searching for cereal.
"He was asleep when we left."-Lance.
"Aww. We should go over and keep him company today."-Hailey.
"Yeah. What's on the schedule today?"-Joey.
"Nothing so far."-Lance.
"We can hang out with JC then."-Justin.
They finished breakfast and everyone headed back to Justin's place, where JC was.
They walked inside and everyone except Justin and Hailey separated. They headed up to JC's room.
They ran up until they reached the top of the stairs, then they quickly tiptoed to his room. Once there,
Hailey slowly opened the door. They walked inside and Justin went over to open the blinds while Hailey sat next to JC on the bed getting ready to wake him up. Then, she noticed the picture on the stand. She picked it up and glanced over it as tears filled her eyes. She had this same picture. This was a picture of her brother Josh and her. Then it hit her. 'Could he be my brother?' She turned the picture over and read,"Ashleigh Nickole and Joshua Scott: June 12, 1984." It was the last picture they had taken together before they were separated.
"Hey Hailey, you can wake him up now."-Justin said as he turned around and faced her.
She placed the picture back on the stand as more tears streamed down her cheeks and fell.
"Are you OK?"-Justin.
"No."-Hailey said as she ran from the room and down to where Skylar was.
"Can you take me home please."-Hailey.
"What's wrong?"-Skylar.
"Just take me home please."-Hailey.
"OK Lets go."-Skylar said as they headed to the front door. Halfway there, they heard JC coming down the stairs with Justin. Hailey bolted out the door.
"Hailey!"-Justin called after her.
Skylar held him back to the best of her ability. "I don't know what happened, but just let her go."-Skylar said as she walked out.
The whole ride home was one of silence except for the sound of a car and an occasional passing vehicle.
Finally they got there. When the car came to a full stop, Hailey said,"Go on back to
Justin's if you want. I don't wanna ruin your day when you can be with Lance."
Skylar did as Hailey requested and returned to Justin's place.
*~*Justin's place*~*
"Well, what happened?"-Justin asked Skylar as soon as she walked in the door.
"She didn't talk to me, except to tell me to come back here."-Skylar.
"I don't understand what can be wrong. I'm going over."-Justin said as he picked up his keys and left.
*~*Hailey's place*~*
Justin slowly and quietly opened the door to her house. He walked quietly across the linoleum and carpeted floors as he made it to her room. He opened the door and walked over to her bed, where she was cuddled up asleep and hugging a picture frame. He looked at her face as he brushed some strands of hair away from her eyes with his hand. He could tell she had been crying, but wondered why. He sat down on the chair beside the bed and fell asleep moments later.
*~*With JC at Justin's place*~*
After Hailey left, she was the topic of everyone's conversation.
"JC, you don't know what happened?"-Alexis.
"I didn't even see her until I came down the steps."-JC.
"That's weird. I wanna go see her. Sorry I couldn't stay longer JC."-Alexis.
"I wanna go to. C-Ya JC, Lance, Joey."-Skylar. The girls hugged JC and left.
The guys hung out watching TV, playing playstation, and eating everything in sight.
*~*Girls' Place*~*
Hailey woke up with the sound of a slamming car door. She rolled over and saw Justin asleep in her chair. Alexis walked into the house with Skylar right behind her, dropped all of her stuff on the couch, and walked into Hailey's room.
"Shh. I think she's still asleep. OK, you get this side, I have the other side."-Alexis said as she walked around the bed.
"Don't even think about it. Just leave me alone!"-Hailey.
"What's your problem?"-Alexis.
"Well, right now you are, so leave."-Hailey.
Meanwhile, Justin woke up, but was pretending to still be asleep.
"Listen, I don't know what your problem is, but I was trying to be your friend and come see what was wrong with you, but see if I ever do it again!"-Alexis said as she ran out and to her room.
"Well, I'll be here for you if ya need me."-Skylar said as she left.
Hailey began crying again. It seemed as if the tears wouldn't stop. She layed her head down on the pillow. Justin knelt on the floor next to her bed and began stroking her hair.
"Leave me alone please."-Hailey.
"Talk to me please."-Justin.
"I don't know how you or anyone else would take it."-Hailey.
"You can talk to me. You should be able to trust me by now."-Justin.
Hailey sat up and wiped her eyes. She leaned over and picked up the picture.
"Do you recognize this picture?"-Hailey asked as she held it out for him to see.
"JC has this picture. It's of him and his sister. Why do you have it?"-Justin.
"Well, after I was adopted, my adoptive parents changed my name. I was Ashleigh Nickole Smyth."-Hailey.
"You're JC's sister?"-Justin.
"That would be correct. I know it probably wasn't proper to leave so abruptly this morning, but I couldn't stay. I just couldn't face him then. I guess I've been away too long."-Hailey.
"OMG. This is so cool. We have to tell JC."-Justin said jumping up from the chair in excitement.
"Why are you so happy?"-Hailey.
"Because I know how happy and excited JC will be when he finds out. He has never stopped talking about you."-Justin.
"OK, I'll go."-Hailey.
She got up and went into the bathroom to clean herself up as Justin pulled out his cellphone and called over to his place.
"Yo, Lance speaking."-Lance.
"Hey Lance. I'm coming back to the house with Hailey. I can't wait til you hear what she has to say."-Justin.
"OK. Well, is Alexis and Skylar coming too?"-Lance.
"I don't think so. Hailey and Alexis had a fight."-Justin.
"OK. Cya when you get here."-Lance.
"OK. Bye."-Justin said as Hailey emerged from the bathroom.
"Well, I guess I'm ready."-Hailey.
"OK. We'll take my car, OK?"-Justin.
"OK."-Hailey said, but her mind was concentrated on what she'd say when she got there.
They were almost there when Hailey said,"You know, I feel like I could spew I'm so nervous; yet, I've wanted this day to come for so long."-Hailey.
"You'll be OK. Do you want everyone around, or do you want it to be just you and JC?"-Justin.
"Just us. I can tell them later."-Hailey.
"Or I could tell them for ya."-Justin.
Hailey looked at him and smiled. "I think either me or JC should be the one to tell them. Thanks for offering though."-Hailey.
"No problem."-Justin said as they pulled up.-"Well, this is it."
Hailey walked inside and rushed to the bathroom.
"Where'd she go?"-Lance.
"Bathroom. She wasn't feeling the greatest."-Justin.-"Hey JC, can I talk to you for a minute?"
"Sure."-JC said as he broke his gaze with the television and got up. He followed Justin into the kitchen.
"OK. When Hailey comes out, she's gonna wanna talk to you alone. It's really serious."-Justin.
"Anything wrong?"-JC.
"No! It's so right, it's awesome."-Justin.
"How come she told you??"-JC.
"She trusts me."-Justin.
Hailey then walked in.
"Well, you guys can talk in my room or yours."-Justin said as he pointed to JC.
"Mine will be OK."-JC.
"OK. Let's go."-Hailey said. JC got up and led Hailey to his room as Justin walked into the livingroom.
Hailey walked into his room and ignored his gaze as she sat on the sofa lying at the foot of his bed.
"What's this about?"-JC.
Hailey sat there and looked into his eyes as tears came to hers. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a picture of herself as a small child.
"Do you remember her?"-Hailey asked as she handed him the picture.
He looked it over. "This was my baby sister. How do you have this picture?"-JC.
"Do you remember calling me babygirl??"-Hailey.
He looked up from the picture. "Ashleigh?"
"Yeah. It's me. My adoptive parents changed my name."-Hailey.
"OMG. I can't believe it. How did you know it was me?"-JC asked as he sat down beside her and hugged her.
"You had our last picture we had taken sitting by your bed. I saw it this morning when I came to wake you up."-Hailey.
"I still can't believe this. I have wanted to see you for so long."-JC said as he continued to hug her. "I'm so glad to see you."
"Me too."-Hailey.
"Let's go tell everybody."-JC.
"Yeah, if Justin hasn't told them yet."-Hailey.
They opened the door and Joey, Lance, and Justin fell inside.
Hailey and JC were laughing. "Well, I guess we don't have to tell them then."-JC.
~Over the next couple of weeks JC and Hailey spent nearly every waking moment together catching up with the things they had missed. Justin sat by the sidelines letting him and her catch-up, but he was about to vent.~
