26 Jan 2002 - Friendly game against Vulcans in Kelab SUK, Shah Alam at 5pm. In contrast
with the previous matches, the turned up for this game was relatively good.
Perhaps most of the players are hungry for success following our creditable
performances in the last few games. The match kicked off with 3 sessions of
half an hour for each session. Both teams looked timid at the start of the game
as the ball was mostly on play at the center of the pitch. Coordination among
our players has indeed improved a lot as blunders can less being seen in this
match. After 15 minutes into the game, Pu took the lead for Swoosh with an easy
shot in front of the penalty area. The goal was truly a morale boosting one as
this was the first that Swoosh has ever taken the lead against any other opponents
that we've played against before. We continued to show our strong determination
to win this match with some fine passings and shots. The combination of Mark and
Teoh in the defense line proved to be efficient as they managed to keep the ball
out from the D-box. 5 minutes before the end of first half, SK took Swoosh to
a comfortable 2-0 lead. Thanks to the Vulcans defenders for their blunders.
Second half was a true disappointment for Swoosh as we let slipped the 2 goals
lead to enable the Vulcans to fight back to equalize the score. Things never went right
from the beginning and the Vulcans showed that they are not ready to throw in the towel
yet. They fielded a few fine players who made a conspicuous impact on their team.
On the other hand, Swoosh made several changes in their line up and we paid the
price for it. The Vulcans as they can be seen, was far from what they were in the first
half. It looks like Swoosh's hope of savoring victory in this match will not be an easy one
after all. Though the score was tied at 2-2, credits should be given to our players as
they managed to clear a few dangerous shots by the Vulcans players.
Never let down the score line, we played with our usual rhythm in the third half.
Intensity of the game was at its zenith as both teams showed true spirits for the
world's most popular sport event. The partnership of Lim Kar and Hua Yee in the attacking
line was excellent as they kept the Vulcans in pressure. They were well supported by
Mark who switched his position to play a winger role. Hua Yee could have put Swoosh in
front after 20 minutes when his left footer shot was brilliantly saved by the Vulcans
keeper. The Vulcans also did create some tense moments for Swoosh players as they
earned a number of corner kicks of which they utilized it very well. All praise for
our keeper, Isaac who pulled a few nail biting saves. As the game seemed to be ended
in a draw, Lim Kar then did something that could mark the born of Swoosh in the soccer
scene. His thunderous shot about 20 meters outside the D-box claimed the first ever
victory for Swoosh! A goal that will never be forgotten for a long long time, Lim Kar
dribbled the ball passed through two Vulcans defenders before confidently fired a left
footer shot. The ball hit the side post and swerved into the net. It was all too late for
the Vulcans to stage a fight back as the referee blew the final whistle shortly after
			          the victorious goal.
Hmm....did someone make a pact with Satan for this change of luck for Swoosh????
			          Just kidding....
*snap shots for this match will be up shortly.

19 Jan 2002 - League game (shield cup) against Bar Fflies in Uniten Field, Bangi at 5pm.
Another disappointing turned up just when the team is in the improvement
phase. Bar Fflies dominated during first half of the game and distinctively
proved that they wanted to win this match after a convincing 10-0 win over
Swoosh in the league game some time ago. Little did they know that the defeat
for Swoosh then was just a 'ghost in the past' and we can no longer be considered
as a bunch of whipping boys. The score of 0-0 lasted about 30 minutes before
Bar Fflies managed to break our resistance. Trailing at 1-0 after first half
did not deter Swoosh from searching for the equalizer.
Our players looked rather exhausted during second half after a hard fought battle
during first half. Bar Fflies took this advantage to register another 3 goals
for the team before Francis finally pulled one back for Swoosh. After dribbled
the ball passed a few defenders, Francis fired a brilliant shot about 15 feet
outside the penalty area and the ball went straight into the net. It was truly
a least expected shot by the Bar Fflies keeper as it was too late for him to save the
ball by the time the shot was made. Before the final whistle, Bar Fflies seemed to
to be hungry for goals and managed to create some tense moment for Swoosh
players. After a fine display last week, Isaac continued his good run as a keeper
	  	      	          by pulling some excellent saves.
Final Score. Swoosh (1) - Bar Fflies (4)
*With this result, Swoosh is out of contention for a quarter final spot in the
			 	Shield challenge.

12 Jan 2002 - League game (shield cup) against Kajang Veterans in Kelab SUK, Shah
Alam at 5pm. A poor turned up for Swoosh players as there were only about
16 players present. A match that could be a close fight turned into another
disappointment due to the number of absentees. Swoosh was hardly a threat
to the Veterans apart from Terry's missed shot on a one-on-one encounter
with their keeper. Lim Kar who played his usual position of striker was let
down by the poor support of midfielders and other team mates. Most of all,
our players seriously need to do something to boost their stamina as it was
clearly shown by the number of times our team made substitution of players.
Isaac, our keeper, no doubt is the only player that has improved tremendously
in this match after denying several shots by the Veterans. This match also saw
a heat up argument between a Veterans player and the referee. It all happened when
the ball was at play in the penalty area. Our player was trying to clear the ball
while a Veterans player tried to head the ball. The Veterans then made a protest
that a penalty kick should be given for such act. Ignoring their protest, a
Veterans player got furious and tried to injure the referee. Without hesitation,
the referee flashed the red card on that player.
Man of the match : Isaac
Final score. Swoosh (0) - Kajang Veterans (3)

*11 Jan 2002 - Southern Selection against MCA Old Timers in ITM Field, Shah Alam at
8pm. MCA Old Timers is a group of chinese veteran players based in Port
Klang. Among their players include Ah Lai, from Port Rangers. This match
will be an acid test for Southern as the loser of the game will have to bear
the field fee (a whopping RM350 for a night game). Winner of the match
will then have to pay for the referee fee (RM120).
Southern Selection : Balan, Chong, CT Gan, Daniel, Gan, Jason, Khoo, Lim Kar,
Mark, Winston, Vijay, Choo Yew and Pu.
			          *match report to follow shortly.

5 Jan 2002 - League game (shield cup) against Asterix Leftovers in Linatex Field, Batu Caves
at 5pm. The match kicked off at 6pm as we were waiting for the arrival of
the Leftovers players. The weather was extremely hot and stamina seemed to
be the key point to win this match. The Leftovers was never a threat to Swoosh
as we dominated the game in the first half. The partnership of Mark and Teoh
in the defense line seemed to be working very well. Our midfielders, Albert and
Terry also did a great job by stopping the ball from entering our defense. Lim Kar
had a few chances of taking the lead for Swoosh but was in no luck as the ball
flew either to the right side of the post or the upper post. Swoosh domination
of the game went on for about 20 minutes before the Leftovers finally managed to
take the lead after 25 minutes. The shouldn't-have-been goal was conceded from
a soft shot by Leftovers player. As a Swoosh player was blocking Isaac's view,
he could not react fast enough to stop the ball. After the goal, the score line
remained stagnant till the end of first half.
After a hard fought battle during first half, we were eager to look for an
equalizer. Though got the feel of exhaustion, we were not ready to throw in the
towel yet. Hua Yee who was playing as a right winger, was working extra hard
to pressure the Leftovers defenders and to support our strikers. Not forgetting
Loh, who did well in his job as a left back. After about 20 minutes into the game,
Swoosh earned a corner kick. Hua Yee who took the kick fired an excellent shot
directly to the center of the penalty box. A Leftovers player who tried to head
the ball had a soft friction with the ball and the ball headed towards the ground.
During this time, Pu who was standing behind the player fired a timer right footer to
equalize the score for Swoosh. The Leftovers was kept in more pressure as they
tried to net the winner goal for their team knowing not much time left in the game.
Swoosh on the other hand, showed a never-give-up spirit in the game that has never
been seen before. After about 30 minutes, a Leftovers right wing player fired a
shot to the penalty area. Another player of theirs, who is lanky, netted the home
the winner goal. Shortly before the final whistle, Albert tried a shot from far but
was easily denied by Leftovers keeper.
This match will certainly raised an eye brow to Leftovers players as it was totally
different a scenario compared to their previous encounter with Swoosh. From a
			      staggering score line of 13 - 0 (first encounter) to a respectable 2 - 1, other
teams will now have to take Swoosh more seriously. Can Swoosh overturn their
long run losing streak in their coming match?
Final score. Swoosh (1) - Asterix Leftovers (2)

*The reason i include the result for Southern Group is simply because i'm an employee
of the company and more than half of the players are Swoosh's players.
