Introduction:

In the Crimson Realm, turtles have a special link with magic and fantasy. This section of the Turtle Emporium expresses that. It holds my own turtle creations, a tale about a fantasy turtle in medievil times and just shows the true magic of turtles. Turtles seem very magical to me. Their exotic colors and mysterious nature. If you read the turtle facts, you will see they are remarkable in their actions and sometimes seem magical, or like a fantasical beast. Tale Of The Enchanted Slider

Ardic stomped frustratedly through the brush and sticks of the Midnight Forest. He had been warned about it densness, but had never suspected such a calbier of obstacles as this. With ever inch, he was slashing madly away at a branch or a a bush. If he had not been well trained, he would be deeply fearing the creatures and magic traps that lurk about. It was very dark, and Ardric's only source of light was his hand which was alight with a harmless flame, cast by a spell. It flickered its embers calmly through the dense blackness. He stared at it in thought, wondering what was to happen to him. All he knew was, he had to get to the center of the foresy at midnight. At exactly midnight in the Midnight Forest, in the very center of the beats infested, magic swarming jungle, something extrodinary would happen. The curiosity had been too great for the young night Ardric, was anxious to figure out what it was. On top of that, his rival and single knight he hated, Camizier had bet him 100 gold chunks that he couldn't do it. He had to. Ardic pondered, feeling the insects biting him repeatedly on the neck and calves. His armor was thick and heavy, but only covered a portion of his body. In his right hand, he carried his trusty sword of blue steel, said to never break or shatter. With these, his magic and his knowledge, he had  faith that he could do this. All too sudden, Ardric heard a screach from behind him. At once he spun around to face a black furred creature with read claws and bright night yellow eyes. It had the build of a tiny dragon, but the looks of an all fours bear. Ardric brought of his sword and slashed it form its leap at once, hearing its scream and seeing a ribbon of blood. Now it wa sangry, only staggerring for an instant, the creature leaped forth onto Ardric's chest biting furioysly at his face. Only barely did the knight have enough strength to kick th ebeast in the stomach and lepa back to his feet, hastily bringing down his sword and an end to th eblack beast. Breathing deeply, Ardric wiped blood from his scarred face. At length he moved on once again.______ At ten minutes before midnight, our hero ran into a magical trap (infamous in the Midnight Forest). He did not see the redish haze before him before it was to late. His eyes fell blind and he heard a crumbling noise from around him. He had heard of this trap. It blinded you and collpased the ground in a circle around you for two feet. if he had not heard of this from the village wizard, he would have soon bene impaled on the spikes in the pit below. But with an agile, jump, his sight returned and he was back on track. At last Sir Ardric arrived at a clearing that was so silent, it sent chills down its spine. This, must be the center of the forest. Knowing better, he extinguished his flame and waiting silently until midnight. ____As he waited, he counted down the seconds until the remaining ten. His nerves had never been so tense. His eyes were wide with wonder of what was to happen next, for he hadn't the slightest idea. He counted; 5....4....3....2...........1. Midnight struck. But then, nothing happened. For another ten seconds Ardric waited and there was no movement, no sound. Not even the wind was in the air. Frowning, he stood up from his sitting position, to look around. He turned slowly in the opposite direction to face his behind. Nothing again-- wait! Ardric squinted into a bush that sat in the open. In it glared two red eyes, at him. He beared his sword infront of him and backed up. But no black furred beats leapt at him, a tiny turtle no bigger than his foot crawled slowly from thebush and from a murky pond that the water bush grew from. Ardric recognized the turtle at once as a Red-Eared Slider. What could this mean? Very gently, it slid toward him, its vibrantly striped shell lurching with each movement. But there was something strange about this turtle, something....magical. Ardric lowered his sword and studied the tiny reptile. On these particular turtle's heads, on both sides were two red spots. Hence the name Red-Eared Slider. Well, this turtle had them, but they were glowing. Glowing bright ruby red. Ardirc frowned even harder, watching as they brightened and brightened, until. A shock blasted him in the temples as two red bolts of magic shot from the turtles glowing spots and connected with his skull. Just then, a voice rang out, not in the air, but in his head. "Sir Ardric the night, hear my words. I am the head speaker of the entire Magi-Turtle guild. As you can tell, myself and my people are not average turtles you may know. There are over 200 of us, hiding within the midnight forest. One of us for each turtle species. We are in need of your help Sir Ardric, and a reward will be included. We need a place to stay, to breed our species and more turtles. As you may know, the turtle race is becoming slowly endangered. The guild can stay in this forest, we are safe hear, but the average turtle is not. Build us a place where we can stay safe to breed. Once we get large enough, we will need it no longer and shall go off on our own. Please, build us a fort no bigger than a square mile. Remember the reward will be to your liking. Farewell!" and the enchanted slider disappeared in a puff of red smoke_____Ardric never would have built that fort if it had not been for the emotion that slider had provided him. Somehow, it had magically touched him and he understood the pain of the turtles. They were indeed endanger and needed a place to breed for no more than a year or two. So he fulfilled the quest and hired as many bric masons as he could muster to form a mile squared structural wall, with a magical forcefield protecting its open roof, with the help of the village wizard, Adarin. After three months it was at last complete. By this time, Ardric was long regretting it, figuring he had wasted his time, and ignored questions about why he was doing this. But nonetheless, he hoped for the best and went to bed that night tired and fatigued._____The following morning, he was awoken by a milk maid, screaming "Come look! Come look! Turtles have infested your fort!" Ardric raced out into the open sun and hired a coach to take him to the forts location. When he arrived, sure enough, thousands upon thousands of turtles had infested it, and open turtle eggs lay out in the sun to incubate. They were already breeding. It had worked. Ardric, confused but content, scratched his head with a smile. He did not understand it, but he had fulfilled the slider's quest. An hour passed of him explaining his story to those who heard the rumor and came to see the amazing Fort of 1,000 turtles. When at last Ardric returned home, he had forgotten about his reward entirely, until he was surprised to sea his sword he had lain on the table changed entirely. It still held the smae structure and his name inscripted, but it was now embroidered with gems and instead of blue steal it was now...green steal? Ardric lifted it up and felt its power filling his veins. It was a terrific weapon, without a doubt. Then, below it, he saw a note written in red: "Thank you,  The Enchanted Slider."  --------------THE END
