The Humble Service of Balance
To seek within the center's symmetry
Beyond the thing we see, to what we are,
To meditate the path considering
The balance of all things both near and far.
The body, mind and soul in even sum,
All thoughts to guide us ever in thy way;
For whether truth or not, from such we learn
When striving ‘ere to balance through our day
To honor others as we wouldst ourselves
Offering to help, but ne’er to force
Counseling with heart and soul in earn’st
Setting evenly this path we course.
Of compassion, all we rightly serve
In rapt devotion to her Majesty;
When so we act through balance, deed and word,
We acquiesce to her divinity.
In gentleness; when we wouldst be strong,
In courage; when ‘tis easier to fear,
We learn from what we have not reckoned on
And in such, the balance doth appears.
Whate’er we claim to hold, we then must loose,
Relenting like a willow to the winds,
Moved to where we wouldst not choose to go,
Committed toward the path and not our ends.
