BoA
Valenti
1. Valenti
Obviously, Latin/Salsa-beat music is as popular in Japan at it is here in the States. This is almost like a toned-down version of Shakira, only with better singing and no lyrics about breasts. BoA has a wonderful voice that is a lot of fun listen to. Sure, she may not have the most original lyrics, but she and her career are both very young. This is a great dance song that will have you bopping around your room like a fool. The Latin-feel helps this song from being boring or typical. Quite frankly, it rocks, and I dare you to listen to it without smiling at least once.

2. Realize (stay with me)
This song starts with a nice R&B feel, with lots of maraca-like percussion. It's a bit tamer than Valenti. BoA's voice is still nice; I don't understand people that criticize her singing. It's better than many US pop stars. I particularly like the accompaniment in this song; it combines in some orchestral strings with the R&B, and throws in some keyboard synths. Toward the middle, BoA raps a section. It's a nice change of pace, and she does it well. I really like this song almost as well as "Valenti." It could've easily been a single itself.

3. Valenti (English Version)
BoA is one of the few Asian singers who regularly releases an English version of her singles. The wonder is, the english versions are usually pretty good. Once in a while, a word is hard to understand, but her accent could be much heavier. The lyrics are pretty stereotypical, but no worse than US pop songs. This song is so good it wouldn't matter anyway. I would like to see BoA release an album in the States; she is much more enjoyable than, say, Britney. *cough* If you liked Valenti, you'll like this version too. Understanding the lyrics is a nice bonus.

The last track is an instrumental version of "Valenti." I'd love to karaoke this song!! Nonetheless, it doesn't affect the score.
