What is Proxy? you say?

In the words of sacred document from our all-powerful leader, Katie:

This, our Anti-club is not formed to demean or deviate from clubs already founded. The purpose is to give the classes of 2003 and 2004 a group of intellectual peers to communicate with. The basis of the meetings (few, if any) will be to discuss the paradigms and paradoxes of both modern society and the world. For example: "If you built a time machine to travel back in time so you could save your best friend who was struck and killed by a car, and you successfully save them, then would all the time you had spent working on the time machine in order to fill their absence be a lost cause, or would you forget every moment except for the one you traveled to change?" This question in itself would provide at least one topic of interest to discuss, and undoubtedly, many other topics would emerge.

The Anti-club does earn its name, however, from its new format. There are no proposed club dues, mandatory fund raising opportunities, or trips to be taken. As mentioned before, the meetings will be very few, provided these meetings meet the length of time establshed herein (how ever long it takes us to decide on what we have spoken of). The Anti-club also believes that intellect should not have designated meeting times and places, that one should be able to freely discuss the thoughts and opinions newly stumbled upon with any member of the Anti-club, at any time (outside of class time). So this Anti-club is a club by the basic standards, however it is not a club you must devote your free time, energy, and money to, under consequences too harsh for a high school club.

We would also like to have our own "Anti-float" in the homecoming parade.

We, the Founder in Chief and her Co-Founders, believe this would be an amazing opportunity for the juniors and seniors to know on a better basis the members of their class, and that this club would provide a chance to discuss the many interesting topics that intrigue the human (teenage) mind. What better way to truly understand your peers and their actions than by knowing their philosphy on various subjects, and in some cases, understanding and even aggreing with them? We would, if you will, "coffee house" it for a while, to take in the full bounty of what life has provided us with, and how we will use it to our utmost benefit. We are considering distributing a "Thought of the Week" to further the thinking ability of these, our club members.

As we have learned in many English, history, science, and elective courses, all it takes to change the world is a single idea, and the Anti-club embraces these ideas as the future of the world, but more precisely, the future of our world.

That was the orignal document presented to the principal. That is still essentially what Proxy is, after a name change, due to the negative connotation the original name invokes. Proxy was discovered after a lengthy dictionary search on the part of Katie and Daniel, since our club is considered the "alternative" club to all others at our school. Being school-sponsored, we are also now required to do a community service project. Our project of choice is Operation: Christmas Child, sometimes known as the shoebox ministry.

That, in a nutshell (or in the whole tree, either one), is Proxy.
