Did you know that
Ancient Hindus, Greeks, Romans, the early Christians: all saw the Goddess or Mary as the highest ideal of motherhood. From that, it was a short step to celebrating the mother who gives birth and nurtures.
Children in almost 50 countries now celebrate it on this day: Andora,Australia,Austria,Belgium, Brunei, Chile, Columbia, Corsica, Denmark ["Mors Dag"], Ecuador, Finland, France, Gabon, Holland, Hong Kong, Hungary,India, Italy, Kuxembourg, Monaco, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan,Turkey Uruguay, Venezuela and others.
Mexico has a fixed date: May 10th
This is one time mothers are given flowers and gifts, and probably spoilt and indulged!
