Natural range: northern Sahara Desert
Housing
- aquarium with wire screen lid is best
- allow at least 15gal per individual
- territorial and should be housed individually
- provide a dust bath monthly
- Bedding: aspen
- Accessories: solid metal wheel, nest box, chews, tunnels, hideaways
Food
- feed a mixture of high quality rodent seed mix and some rodent blocks
- timothy hay and fresh fruit or veggies once weekly
- occassional kitten kibble
Breeding
- Maturity: 2-3 months old
- Gestation: 19-23 days
- Litter size: 2-5
- pregnant females will become very aggressive with males and they should be separated
- disturb the tank as little as possible for the first 2-3 weeks after female gives birth
- eyes open around 14 days old
- should be weaned by 5 weeks old
