If there is anything that truly distinguishes Josie and the Pussycats, it is the strength of the songs on the soundtrack. The collective of writers was assembled by writers and directors Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont, who said of the songwriters, “these are people who have been out there making great power pop, but have sort of gone unrecognized. They’re so good at what they do, and they were exactly what we needed for the movie.”
