A bit calmer now, she began to look around the regal halls she now passed through. She hated to admit it to herself, but her awe of the surroundings nearly overshadowed her usual cynicism and distaste for the world. She forced herself to retain her demeanor. Can’t show the fuckers any weakness, she thought to herself.
Out loud she demanded, “Where the fuck are we going anyway?”
“His Majesty, the Royal Highness Prince Bane, asked that you be brought here,” replied one of the guards in a firm voice, but all who heard him speak could easily detect his all-out fear of the girl he spoke to. Bella let out a snort.
“His Royal-fucking-Highness better have left Ethie alone if he knows what’s good for him. If the bastard so much as touched her.....” Her rant was interrupted by the stifled laughter of the guards in front of her. She glared at the back of their heads, wishing she had a knife. “What’s so fucking funny?”
The guards tried to regain their composure, but the one who answered couldn’t help chuckling through his words. “You obviously don’t know the prince, Child. He did much more than touch her.... Here we are.”
You have no idea how fucking lucky you are, you damned prick, Bella thought as she scowled savagely at the guard who visibly regretted his words. The enormous oak doors opened in front of her and she scanned the room suspiciously before entering. When she was certain there was no one waiting to ambush or attack, she stepped in and the doors closed behind her. She walk cautiously to the bed in front of her, preparing herself for.... what? She didn’t know what to expect, but she had the feeling whatever it was, it couldn’t be good.
She sat gingerly on the edge of the bed and shifted some of the satin blankets to see what, if anything, was lying beneath them. Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. Ethie lied there in front of her, her eyes open, but she made no acknowledgement of Bella’s presence.
“Oh dear Gods, he’s killed her....”
