There’s Only One
Way
Written by Christopher Mentzer
It’s not secret that I’m a fan of Pro
Wrestling and I always look forward to this time of year. Football has the Superbowl, Baseball
has the World Series and Wrestling has Wrestlemania. Although it’s held in April, things
begin in January with a Pay-Per-View called The
Royal Rumble. Simply
put 30 Wrestlers enter the ring and the one remaining at the end gets a
Championship Match at Wrestlemania.
This is
reason why the commercial promotes the rumble by saying, “There’s only one way
to Wrestlemania, and it
starts at The Royal Rumble. This statement reminds me of what
Jesus said to his disciples in John 14: 6, “I
am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Simply put, ‘There’s only one-way to
Heaven and it starts with Jesus.’
Too many
people promote the idea that there are several ways into heaven and most of
them do not include Jesus in them. I
once spoke to a co-worker about Heaven and she said that she had two
out-of-body experiences in which she personally spoke to God and He assured her
a place in Heaven. I asked
her about John 14: 6 and she turned her back on me! The reason, to her at least, was that
I limited the entrance into heaven and that she was wrong.
Jesus
said in Matt. 7: 13-14, “Enter
ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby. For narrow is the gate, and straitened
the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it.” This passage says that there are two
paths but only one leads unto eternal life. The problem is most people that on the
broad way think they too are going to Heaven, just in a different style.
Jesus
died on the cross for the forgiveness of all sins of all people, but if you
don’t acknowledge Him and what He did, you will be eternally lost. And to simply believe in Jesus is not
enough either. In Matt. 7:
21-23 Jesus said, “Not
every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22. Many will say to me in that day,
Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons,
and by thy name do many mighty works? 23.
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that
work iniquity.” Too
many people profess to do good works in the name of the Lord but if they don’t
do His will, then all their works will be for naught.
Others want to simply have the faith
but not do the works. James
writes of this in Jas. 2: 17-18, “Even
so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself. 18. Yea, a man will
say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith apart from `thy'
works, and I by my works will show thee `my' faith.” He writes
further in verse 24, “Ye
see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith.”
As you can see it’s not by ‘Faith
Only’ nor is it by ‘Works Only’. You
must have both and it has to be ‘The
Will of The Father’. (Matt.
7: 21) To leave Jesus out
of the equation is like leaving the key to your front door still under the
mat. Try all you want to
get in but without that key, it won’t happen.
