Yesterday was supposed to be the date for the rapture of the church…well, one of them.  It’s the latest in a long string of predictions by Premillenialists.  I won’t go into the math that this date derives from, but mainly it has to do with the three ‘7’s.  777 is considered God’s number also signifying perfection.  Funny thing, the casinos look at three 7s as special; giving the biggest payouts on their slot machines.

666 is considered the number of the beast according to Rev. 13: 18 therefore the number of the devil.  This is why Jesus didn’t return on June 6th, 2006 because it would be inappropriate.  Yes, I’ve actually read that on someone’s website.

The basis of all of these predictions is for the rapture and the Second Coming to occur within the lifetime of the predictor, a generation of about 40 years.  But as each predicted date comes and goes, like yesterday’s, I have less and less respect for these people.  My predicted date, listed as the title, is as far-fetched as the rest.  The difference of course is I won’t be around to see if it pans out; not that I care, for it could happen tomorrow.

So what does all this tell us?  It tells us that we, the human race, are attempting to tell God when to send His Son back.  All the calculations and Bible Codes that have been used and formulated throughout the last couple hundred years are Man telling God what to do not the other way around.  They won’t tell you this but they might as well because that’s what it really boils down to.

In Matt. 24: 42 Jesus said, Watch therefore: for ye know not on what day your Lord cometh.”  This should be clear enough to tell us that we don’t know but for some reason people look at the word “Watch” as a loophole for them to calculate His return.  But no human thinking will be able to figure it out.  God said in Isaiah 55: 8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah.  9. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Another verse is Deut. 29: 29, The secret things belong unto Jehovah our God; but the things that are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”  Simply put, if God hasn’t revealed it to us in His scriptures then it is not important for us to know for our salvation.

What is important is that we continue to do what God wants us to do and be ready always for the His Son’s return, whenever that will be.  Instead of taking all the time to calculate the date of Christ’ return, one should use the time to bring more lost souls to the Lord.  Paul wrote in his second letter to the church in Corinth, “…behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Cor. 6: 2)  Use the present to do the work of the Lord and not to worry about tomorrow.  Jesus said Matt. 6, “27. And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit unto the measure of his life?  33. But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  34. Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Matt. 6: 27, 33-34)

And of course when the Second Coming does take place there will be some person who will run out of his house with a calendar and that date conveniently circled.  It simply to prove that they were right and everyone else is wrong.  Only person who will ever be right is God.
