Encryption assistance needed

[Security Forum FAQ] [CA Security Forum]

OK,here's the problem. I like to email documents from home to work. Work has one of those beasty corporate email filter thingos that sometimes reject my emails from home. I want to be able to do a simple encryption on my home linux box, email it to my win2000 work account and decrypt it.

I cant install PGP on the win2000 machine, I dont have admin privledges. I tried installing GNUPGP but no luck.

What are my options?

cheers
mako

If you need some encryption for text only you can encrypt it by using some ROT 13 or something you find on the web. An online decrypter encrypter. This is JeiAr's script for ROT 13: http://www.gulftech.org/rot13.php

If both of the machines have internet you can always tesy an online encrypter:

I would write a small program to encrypt the data and then decrypt it - you could either use an algorithm such as DES, or you could use your own. If you do it carefully and keep teh decryptor on a floppy or something you could guarentee the key would remain secret, as well as the algorithm, and could make it fairly secure. The problem of passing keys, or compatability would be removed - as you will be the only one using it.
