You know what I hate? Bandwidth. You know why? Cause it sucks, big time!

Question. How many of you know exactly what bandwidth is? Raise your hands.

No takers? That's what I thought.

Bandwidth is, as defined by Angelfire: the amount of data that is used to transfer a member's Web page (including the HTML, graphics, text, sound files, etc.) from the host server to the person viewing the page. If the contents of the page equals 1 MB, and the page is viewed 100 times in one day, the total bandwidth would be 100 MB.

In short, if you use up your bandwidth (by getting too many hits) your site stops working. Then, when that happens you get this lovely message:

Temporarily Unavailable
The Angelfire site you are trying to reach has been temporarily suspended due to excessive bandwidth consumption.
The site will be available again in approximately 2 hours!

And the above message has appeared on my new Inu-Yasha/Kagome shrine 29 times this month, and the damn site's not even on an official search engine yet. I've barely gotten over 1,000 hits on it and already my 1 GB of bandwidth (which sounded like a lot of bandwidth at first) is being used up daily.

What. The. Fuck.

This isn't fair at all!!!! Angelfire is practically forcing me to get a paid account if I want visitors to be able to view my page! It's exploitation!

You know what else effects bandwidth? Direct linking!!! Everytime you take some little quiz to put on your online blog, and you copy and paste code from an image, that's direct linking. And every free server known to man doesn't allow it. Only privately owned domains can do direct linking now-a-days.

So for those of us who don't want to pay $9.95 a month, we can't put site banners up on topsites, or start our own clique, our make an adoption center, or anything else!!!!
