You start out in this game as Solid Snake, a repeat character from the past Metal Gears, on a tanker. The tanker is transporting a new Metal Gear referred to as Metal Gear Ray and your objective is to find out where the tank is headed and take several pictures of the Metal Gear Ray that display the MARINES logo and other parts of the Metal Gear so that your group, Philanthropy, can exploit it to the world. But there is a slight problem, an underground Russian military hijacks the ship without the MARINES even knowing it, their mission is to steal the new Metal Gear and restore the name of Mother Russia. Now you as Solid Snake must go through this tanker and complete your objective without being killed or captured by either the Russians or the MARINES. Once you complete this you go through a whole cinema of Ocelot, now possessed by Liquid Snake, stealing this new Metal Gear just as you download the pictures to Otacon, your co-hort in crime. After the cinema is over someone is shown swimming through a hole in a wet suit, you soon go into first person view as this character. A codec conversation ensues and you learn that your codename is Snake but is being changed for this mission to Raiden. You basically meet yourself here and take a look around your area for some items, you are told that terrorists known as the Sons of Liberty have taken over the shell and your job is to stop them and save the President. Sounds like a big job for one little guy right? Well this is your mission and you have to accept it so deal with it. You must follow through with your mission objective, but wait.... there is more. You then have to defuse C4 that is on every strut, that should be fun right? Well its not, actually I hated the C4 deal, much more fun to blow the balls off of the Russian soldiers. You eventually find out that the terrorists group that is in the building is known as Dead Cell, from a "MARINE" known as Iroquois Pliskin who looks remarkably like Solid Snake. You and Snake meet up with Peter Stillman, the bomb expert, to diffuse all of the bombs. Through the game you get to fight each Dead Cell member, the final boss being Solidus Snake. I won't give away any more information on this great game but let you decide for yourself.

Graphics: 9/10 The game has a way of catching your eye no matter what, the cut scenes are unbelievable.

Sound/Music: 9/10 The music is really great to listen to, it has a blues/jazz kind of sound to it.

Storyline: 6/10 The story wasn't that thrilling until the very end of the game.

Controls: 10/10 The controls are phemonenal once you get used to them, its really easy to slow down and run and creep up and do whatever other espionage things you need to do in this game.

Gameplay: 7/10 The game would be half as short if it was minus all the codec calls and cut scenes even though they are so fun to watch... sometimes.

Replay Value: 8/10 I have found it to be quite fun to play the game over again on the higher difficulties and try and collect as many dog tags as I can!

Overall: 8.5/10 Overall I think this game was pretty well rounded once you look past all of the codec calls, cut scenes and the main character.
