The elves are a race of many groups, similar to men in this aspect. Wheras men have kingdoms, the elves have clans. A long time ago, the elves went to Vandlor, island of the gods. One clan stayed behind, not willing to give up their practice of magic. This one clan is known as the Avari (drow; dark elf) clan. Though they were not evil, the magic they practiced included necromancy. However, when the necromancers of men learned of them and their goodness, they created the orc, a mockery of the elves. These orcs are basically much bigger and more skilled goblins, but are still just elves created to be evil. Naturally the real elves and the orcs hated each other and a never ending war began. While all this was happening, all the other elves who had gone to Vandlor were learning how to heal as well as they do and learned not all magic was bad. Finally, they set off from the island of the gods, which only they know where it is, to be ambushed by orcs when they were beaching their ships. The elves naturally defeated these creatures with their newfound magic abilities and their expert archery. They met up with the Avari, who they considered foes for, to a sense, bringing about the orcs, who greated them warmly. Eventually, when the feasts were over, the elves separated into clans, as the Avari had done, and after a very long time, some came to war with each other. The High Elves, a noble clan which has lost its real name, was pretty much slaughtered by the combined assaults of enemy clans and the pesky orcs. To this day, the rest have prospered and the island of Vandlor. |
