Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area is located 14 miles northeast of Fort Hood. Take Martin Drive North (East Range Road),
exit to North Nolan Road. Follow signs to
Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area.

Over 800 acres of year-round recreational excitement, including a beach, water slide, party pavilions, jet ski, paddle boats, boat ramps, nature trails, horseback riding, RV campground, fishing dock, cottages, playground, family picnic sites, primitive camping, marina boat storage, watercraft rentals, dry storage area and marina resale store. The newest addition to the BLORA facility is the mountain bike trails. For just $5 per vehicle, enjoy the beach, water side, paddle boats, picnic areas and playground.  SAVE WITH AN ANNUAL PASS FOR JUST $40 PER VEHICLE!   BLORA will honor Golden Age/Golden Access Passports by giving authorized patrons a 50% discount off park entrance fee (daily gate fee or annual vehicle pass fee) and a 25% discount off camping fees (RV pads, tent pads or primitive camping). Individuals sponsored by an authorized Golden Age/Golden Access card holder will not receive the 25% discount on camping fees on their contract. This discount is for the actual card holder only.

Beach and Picnic Areas:

Swim, sunbathe and enjoy Belton Lake at Sierra Beach, BLORA's authorized swimming area when   lifeguards are on duty Wednesday through Sunday throughout the summer season. Covered          family picnic shelters are located adjacent to the beach. The snack bar sells refreshments and         features a patio deck that overlooks the beach area and beautiful Belton Lake. More than 300 family picnic sites and 143 covered picnic shelters, many with barbecue grills are scattered throughout the park. Operating schedule is: April 15 through October 15 (depending on availability of lifeguards) Wednesday and Thursday: 12 - 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Holidays: 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Swim Area is FREE with BLORA admission. Open to the Public! 

Camping and Cottage Rental:  

Stay for a night, weekend, or longer any time of year at BLORA's RV or primitive camping areas or cottages.  Recreational vehicle campsites are available in three locations in the park. RV sites have electricity and water hookups, and picnic shelters. Dump stations are located conveniently near the RV parks. Sites are filled on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Several acres of land have been designated for primitive camping at BLORA. Ten fully furnished one-bedroom cottages are available by reservation. FREE Water slide and Paddle boats:

The floating paddle boat dock offers four-seat paddle boat fun for BLORA patrons. Two 300-foot-plus water slides curve and plunge from the start tower down to the four-foot splash pool for thrills for the whole family. Both attractions are open April 15 through October 15, Wednesday and Thursday, 12 - 8 p.m.; Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Holidays: 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Rides are FREE with park admission. Open to the public.

Boat Rental:

Fishing, ski and party boats are available for rent at the boat dock. Fishing tours, fishing contests, and weekend lake tours are also offered. Party boats may be reserved in advance; all other watercraft items are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The marina resale store sells bait, food, drinks, fishing accessories and state fishing licenses. See pricing below and call for information on reservations/availability. Open to the public. Boat Testing:

 A Fort Hood Boating License is required to rent a boat with a motor. The test is administered Wednesday through Sunday during operational hours. The test consists of a written test and a boat practical on the lake. Test pamphlets are available at Belton Lake Boat Dock and the Equipment Checkout Center, Bldg. 4930, Clear Creek Road on Main Post, phone 287-4126/1853.

Skiing: 

IAW Texas Parks and Wildlife Water Safety Act and Fort Hood Boating Safety rules, there must be a licensed driver (age 17 or older) and a spotter (age 13 or older) for every motorboat towing a person on water skis.

Watercraft Rental Contract: 

Authorized patrons must be 17 years of age or older and possess a valid military I.D. card to complete contract requirements to rent watercraft rental items.  Minimum boat rental is a two (2) hour block except for fishing boats.

Boat Launch:

Two boat ramps are available at BLORA, and ample parking space is provided for cars, trucks and trailers. The boat ramps are available for use by all BLORA boating patrons.

Boat and RV storage:

BLORA has dry storage rental spaces available for boats and RVs, along with boat slip space in the marina. Must be an authorized user.

Fishing:

BLORA has a floating fishing dock with room for 50 fishermen on the side deck and 100 fishermen on the outside deck. Open year round and heated during winter months. Inquire about our Youth Fishing Derbies and Guided Fishing Tours.

Pavilion and Picnic Area Rental:

BLORA has 12 pavilions and five large picnic areas located throughout the park, providing excellent facilities for unit and private gatherings for up to 500 people. Pavilions may be reserved in person or by calling the reservation office. See description and pricing below. Must be an authorized user.

Sunnyside Electricity and water. Accommodates 150. Access to softball field, playground and volleyball courts. Restrooms within approx. 50 yds. $30 usage fee.
Shoreline Electricity and water. Accommodates 200. Access to volleyball court. $30 usage fee.
Lakefront Electricity and water. Accommodates 150. Access to softball field and volleyball court. Restrooms within approx. 500 yds. $30 usage fee.
Pecan Electricity and water. Accommodates 200. Access to two volleyball courts and playground. $30 usage fee.

Note: There will be a cleanup deposit fee, an amount equal to the pavilion rental fee or not to exceed $75, required on all pavilion rentals. This cleanup deposit fee is refundable if pavilion site is cleaned after usage.   All personnel completing any BLORA contract requirement (on cottage, camping, pavilion and large group area facilities and/or boat dock watercraft rental equipment) must be an authorized user of BLORA facilities and possess a valid military ID card. Nature Trail:

For the nature lover, a marked 2 1/4 quarter-mile trail winds through beautiful terrain.

Horseback Riding:

Get back in the saddle at BLORA Ranch!  287-2523 Here at BLORA Trail Rides we offer trail rides for all folks. Whether you are an experienced horseman or a beginner we offer trail rides for you. All trail rides are an hour long and cost $15/person.  We have over 1,200 acres to ride and horses for all levels of riding experience.

We offer six trail rides per day: mornings, 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.; afternoons, 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.mDuring daylight savings time, the last ride is 5:00 p.m. We are open Wednesdays through Sundays and holidays. Advance reservations are requested.

We request that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled riding time.   Payment is made at the main gate to BLORA at the Administrative Office, Building 126.  Children under 12 years-of-age are not permitted.  No double riding is permitted on the trail rides.

For horse owners, there are two boarding stables available on Fort Hood. The 82-stall Hunt & Saddle Riding Stables is located behind Information Center at the main gate. The second facility, Montague Riding Stables, has 24 stalls and is located on West Fort Hood. Both stables have riding arenas and exercise pens; the West Fort Hood location has an electric horse exerciser. Call 532-4552 for information on prices and availability.

Mountain Biking:

 The Fort Hood Trailblazers Mountain Bike Club provides, operates and maintains trails where members and the public may enjoy the sport. The trail system is designed to accommodate riders of all skill and endurance levels from the first-timer to the advanced racer. There are several loops ranging from four to 14 miles containing designated, marked trails for novice, intermediate, and advanced riders. There is also a short and easy trail designed just for children. The park also offers a shaded picnic area, plenty of parking and beautiful views of Belton Lake. The Trailblazers hold several mountain bicycling events throughout the year, including NORBA-sanctioned cross country races, time trials, clinics, festivals, children's' races, guided trail rides and more. All persons entering the park must have a membership card or day use pass. Membership does not include free entrance into BLORA. The membership fee is $30 per year, October-September (pro-rated fees available) or $6 per day. Membership includes use of the facilities and trails, eligibility to participate in club rides and activities, and a quarterly newsletter. Special Events: 

Special events at BLORA include Jet Ski races, "Nature in Lights," a five-mile drive through the park to view over 120 animated holiday light displays mid-November through early January, the "Water Festival," the traditional kick-off to the BLORA summer season in May, "Single Soldiers' Day" in June and Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt in April.
