I've decided to
share with you my experience with weight loss. I am grossly
overweight. More like obese. I admit it. Am I proud of it? No.
Am I happy that I am endangering my health by remaining this
heavy? No. But sometimes, weight loss can be a tricky, some
times dangerous thing, even when you need to lose the weight.
I started out by
using Slim Fast. Don't get me wrong. Slim Fast is a great
product, and if it works for someone else, that's great. It
worked for me too, but then I decided to see if I couldn't do it
on my own. So I quit drinking the Slim Fast. I am not going to
sit here and tell you that I immediately gained the seven pounds
I lost while on the Slim Fast back, because I didn't. I quit the
Slim Fast and started doing the eat less, drink more water,
& exercise bit. And it worked. But it also caused problems.
When talking to
my doctor, as you should prior to starting any weight loss plan,
he told me that I should only lose about 10% of my current body
weight at once. Let my body adjust to the lower weight, then
start working towards losing 10% of my new weight. Fine. I had
lost about 5% of my weight at that time, and began to experience
medical problems that to this day have not been corrected. My
doctor couldn't understand it.
I would like to
say to all of you, if you need to lose weight, please....try to
get your doctor to monitor your progress. Tell him about
anything out of the ordinary that may happen while you are on
your weight loss program. It could save you a lot of heartache
in the long run. Medical problems and conditions can begin when
you lose weight, and although 10% is the generally recommended
amount of weight to lose at one time, I now believe that
everyone's level of what they should lose is different.
My new doctor
recently suggested I try the Slim Fast program again. I told him
what happened before and he stated that he believed that my
problems were caused by being overweight, not by losing weight.
So I am trying the Slim Fast program again. I seem to be doing
well. I do not have a scale with which to weigh myself, I will
let my doctor weigh me. :o)
