For every man there is a Beast lying beneath, constantly coming out,
until a Beauty comes his way to guide him to harmony through the touch of a fairy wish.

A Beast or two is a page dedicated to the famous tale Beauty and the Beast. Here are some versions I created, from tales quite classical to some others less classical! And, sorry Danyl, but on some, I have some big doubts about the fairy wish... 'curse' would probably be more accurate, no offence meant ;)

The Beast must die: a fantasy version, quite disturbing perhaps, since Beauty is not really the fragile girl some could expect. (Completed on January 19th, 2001)
The dragon's pearl: another fantasy version and the title is enough to tell what kind of beast it's about... (Completed on January 7th, 2002)
The dragon's breath: the sequel to The dragon's pearl... Of course, it goes a bit away from the classic tale, since nobody ever cared to tell what happened after they find each other (or did I miss a book telling that?). (Coming soon)
Soul of a man: a twist with the story of Cupid and Psyche, where the innocent girl is given as a victim to a monster and finds herself entertained by a mysterious host she never sees; she only hears his voice... (Updated October 30th, 2002)
The nature of the beast: the title is coming straight from Whistle down the wind, I confess it, but I thought it was a really good title for a Beauty and the Beast story... A curse is laid on a whole lordland, so that physical aspect will reflect the soul beauty and strangely, the lord is turned in a so hideous creature that he is actually looking worse than a Beast... and a banal girl is turned into the most breathtaking creature... (Updated June 3rd, 2002)
Dangerous Game: the title is - once again - coming from a musical, straight from Jekyll and Hyde, but when listening to it for the umpteenth time, I suddenly realised that it could fit so well to a Beauty and the Beast story... So maybe those two lines will do for a 'summary':

A darker dream that has no ending
That's so unreal you believe that it's true
Nice, isn't it? Maybe now you have an idea of what my twisted mind (as for writing!) may do from here! (Coming soon)
'You are my home': believe it or not, the title is... hum... from a musical, The Scarlet Pimpernel (I'm back listening to musicals, Frank Wildhorn's mostly, after a long time hooked up on Sarah McLachlan, though I still like to listen to Angel, but that's another story...). After all, in most Beauty and the Beast tales, the Beast tells Beauty she should consider the castle like hers, clearly offering it to her. So where is he to live? ;) And well, that's a little reminder of the song Home, from the Beauty and the Beast musical... (Coming soon)
The crystal rose: the rose is no more losing its petals, nor is being taken by a merchant, it's now a magnificent objet d'art, created by the most skillful artisans, but carrying too the worse curse ever...(Completed on March 25th, 2002)
Even shadows run for cover: title inspired by the musical The civil war, the initial sentence being 'Even shadows find a cover'. This one should be more Beast-side oriented: in all tales or almost, it is said the Beast broke all the mirrors in his castle, so what does he really think about himself? (Coming soon)
Beauty and the Beast on ice: the title says it all! This one is what I would call a parody and be warned, there is no curse, no real beast, no castle and no girl trapped... Just my favourite sport :) (Completed on May 8th, 2002)
