     "Candar, wait!"
She looked up from making sure the nitro was packed safely. "Jerry! What
are you doing up? Get back in bed!"
Jerry stumbled out the airlock into the snow and walked shakily toward
her. "Babe, I don't want you hurt. Please be careful."
She smiled and looked for Grayson. He was nowhere to be found, probably
busy on the other side of the encampment. "Jerry, you really need to lie down.
Did Dr. Grayson say your well enough to get up?"
"I don't give a damn what he says. We're about to come under attack and, I
need to be there to help. I can fire a rifle as easily as the next guy. I'll
just lie down doing it."
She sighed. "Jerry, you don't have to. Hopefully this little bombing run
will deter them from approaching any further. They're awful fast though so, it
wont be long."
"Are they really what you and Kevin encountered on Delazar? I can't
believe that."
She finished checking her payload. "If they are, it could mean serious
implications not only for us but every other colony out there. They could move
on to wipe out everything. Why they haven't already, I have no idea. But, you
get some rest Jerry, I'll be fine. I'm still the best damn pilot there is! Even
if I am flying an old G-6."
"That's what worries me, babe. The G-6 is not a fighter or a bomber, it's
a simple work shuttle."
"Then it just got recommisioned into a bomber." She kissed him lightly on
the cheek. "Now get to bed. Governor's orders. If Grayson says you can get up
then help out but, do only light duty."
Jerry nodded. "Ok, boss. Good luck."
"Thanks, Jerry," She avoided his last pleading look and climbed into the
cockpit. Locking the door, she tapped her comm. "Okay Kerry, you on?"
"Yes, Governor. I have to ask though, has anyone even tried to attempt
contact with these things? Are they that deadly?"
"They wiped out an entire colony on Delazar. I'm not going into it. Our
ground crew is still missing, god only knows what some of them might have
already done to Will and the others. I'm taking off."
She closed the comm before Kerry could argue. Kerry was a good friend but,
she didn't like to accept situations that bothered her. Once the new govt was
established for the colony she would make a great "squeaky wheel" which is what
Candar needed. Not to surround herself with yes men, like Carnigan would have.
Bringing the throttle to full, Candar doublechecked her fuel then released
the lock. The G-6 shuttle moved forward and she increased it's speed till it
left the ground and tilted upward into a steady climb. She turned west knowing
that heading their direction now was a full scale attack.
"Candar, you must stop. Do not bomb us!"
That voice again! In her head. "Screw off! I'm not going to talk this
time and, I'm not losing anymore people! You attack us, you'll die! You
approach the base camp, you'll die! I'm not kidding bitch!"
"Your determination is amazing. I have been told by my father though to
attempt contact. If you attack however, we will be forced to retaliate. If we
do, it will be Delazar as you call it, all over again."
Candar swore. "You were there? Were you the one that touched me? You were
killed."
"No, that was my mother. After your kind killed her, my father ordered you
invaders to be destroyed. We showed no mercy. We have felt deep regret since
then. I carry the link with you from my mother. She joined with me and so, I
know what she knew. You must abort this attack and wait for us to make
contact."
Candar looked down through the clouds and saw a large mass moving quickly
across the plains. "Fat chance, bitch!" She opened a window. "Hope you can
dodge..bombs away!" She let go and the first bottle of nitro dropped......
