In my tour to Scotland, we visited Stirling Castle. Carrie loved Beaumaris in Wales, but I would fall in love with this wonderful castle.

Situated above the city, Stirling Castle had a great point to see approaching armies. This

wondrous castle did indeed have a very strategic location.  I guess what I liked most about the castle was the defense walls.

Long walls surrounded the castle. These walls had walkways on them and ports from which the battery of cannons could defend the castle within the walls.

From the walls of the castle the Firth of Forth can be seen. The Wallace Monument, built in the 1800's, can also be seen, from the walls of the castle.
The walls were built to protect the Queen of Scots. Wallace and Robert the Bruce tried to take over this castle. Note: Robert the Bruce was the first King of Scotland.
