Friday not sure of date, around the 27 June I think

OHMYGOD has the most surreal experience this morning. Those of you who read loads would almost call this Kafkaesque; right, so Mark wakes up and stumbles out of bedroom to find entire flat full of hitherto unseen or -known strange Japanese people. Eventually, through the oriental chaos, I discover my flat-mate's girlfriend, and look at her, slightly bewildered. 'Ah,' she says, in her usual fascinating blend of Japanse, English and German, 'these are some relatives. How do I get to the airport please?' She proceeded to tell me that one such relative had a flight to catch in an hour and a half. Given that the journey to the airport has taken me as much as an hour before, I explained, and added that they had better peg it to catch the flight. 'Oh, thank you,' they all chimed, and gave me a sweet to eat which girlfriend explained would taste of green tea. Nice. I opened it, and it was fluffy. Once they had all gone and I managed to convince myself that the flat hadn't simply been magically thrown over the Atlantic and Pacfic overnight without me noticing, I looked in the mirror to find a massive spot on my nose and my hair with Viking-horns in.

I appreciate that the above sounds like I am on drugs, but I assure you this is not the case, although I had to convince myself of the fact earlier too... Anyway, then bloody Matthew rang, and proceeded to bait me for half an hour about the gay pride movement, of which I am not a fan. Eventually, I called it quits, saying that I couldn't face arguing with him at that time of the morning, having had the start to the day I had had, and without coffee.

'Oh that wasn't an argument,' says Matt airily, 'I was right.' Honestly. Anyway, this weekend is going to be interesting - going on said gay pride march tomorrow before promptly getting battered and going clubbing, and then getting up at some ungodly hour on Sunday, hungover as fuck, to go to Leipzig for the day with the SOCRATES bunch. Nice.

Tuesday 1.7.03

RIGHT. I have been meaning to come in here for about 3 days now and update this, so sorry for the -unusual- silence. So yes, Friday was a bit bizarre, all the more so just suddenly I found myself in this bar at 4am, completely trashed, with the Saturday morning sun coming up. I got on the tube to go home -alone, I stress- and managed to attract the attention of pretty much everyone in the carriage by giggling loudly to myself. Can't quite work out why, but I found the fact that I was pissed and it was dawn bordering on the hysterical.

So then Saturday's Gay Pride festivities were...hmm. I'm really not a fan of the whole GP movement for reasons which I have ranted about before and can't be arsed to go into again, and I felt a bit uncomfortable at first. Soon got into the spirit, though, and walked along with all the other loons and raving queers and people feeling free to be themselves and all that. So rah. Didn't, in the end, get trashed on Saturday night as didn't really get the opportunity. Stayed in the enormous Tiergarten Park until midnight where the party was; atmosphere was good but just shame about the indescribably bad music.

Sunday was cool, actually, although the journey was three hours each way when one uses normal trains and not the sort which we were on, ie when you practically have to wind the engine yourself. However, 4 quid return for journey which I think is 120km but I might be wildly mistaken isn't bad... Leipzig is nice, pretty, quiet, small, unassuming, sleepy (or rather was before I arrived and is now that I have left), that sort of thing. Amusement of the day was sitting in a cafe, when I saw an icecream called 'Hot Love' and instantly ordered it from the crusty waitress. Much larks.

Taught the mad old ladies again yesterday, which was quite cool, and did some savage proofreading so that Matt can finish the translation he is doing. Got a bit pissed in the evening. Rah to that too.
