Q. Why does the laughing cow laugh?
A: Because there's wee in your milk. :-)

Hahahahahahaha, just learned that I have to write 500 words of my comedy German and send it in to my department within about two weeks. I admit that this doesn't sound like the most herculean of labours given that, erm, I'm studying German, but I haven't spoken or written the damn language since about May and doubt very much whether I still know 500 words to write. Well, never mind, panic over (simply heard first of all that had to write piece of German - I was thinking thousands of words which would have presented large problems), must find decent dictionary. Relying, at the moment, on the pocket French-German offering that Anna bought a few weeks ago which I fear won't get me very far. We shall see.

Hmm. Just been in to check emails for first time in several days, and, as with every time I leave it too long, I log in with a kind of delighted dread - I mean, God, just bloody how am I going to get through all those messages which are just bound to be waiting for me and reply to them all without taking out a second mortgage to give the nice lady in this net cafe? Imagine my dejected surprise, then, when I had three new emails. Thanks, guys. I suppose you're all saving me money, right? How sweet... ;-)

Anyway, all is well here. Just dropped mum off at the airport after a lovely few days wandering around - hired a car and drove several hundred miles around the mountains yesterday, during which I convincingly proved to both her and Anna that I'm a shit map-reader. I don't have a sense of direction in any concrete, well, sense. But it was lovely, and it was her birthday too today (30 years old again, I believe) so happy birthday. Rah.
