Unpacking didn't go so badly. Actually managed it all on Sunday, which was an organisational triumph; this, however, will all be swiftly matched by the impending chaos-doom that is on Sunday's horizon. I know I'm far from ready, and that in a way is fine, because it will all just fall together. But it's the thought of arriving in France and the grim realisation that I've forgotten, say, my enrolment form for University which I dread. Mind you, not that it couldn't be posted out, and frankly, no matter how many forms I fling at them and how much I shout, they're never going to give me a place until I've sweated for it, the shites.

But mustn't complain (I seem to say that a lot on here...) - I finish at French Uni in late January, and start in Berlin in mid-April, between which I am let loose on Europe. So much for a year's dissertation-writing. :-)

Shit, shit, shit, must do something about packing.

Saturday 14.9.02

Finally flinging things in bags and prowling round the house, thinking 'Now do I need this?' about everything I touch or pick up - including my bookshelves, TV remote-control and packet of cat-food. Better be safe than sorry, I say. Anyway, moment of delight yesterday when I actually managed to shut my suitcase (miraculous in itself, but I didn't even bother trying to pick it up; I don't want to know how much it weighs) and considered some sort of equivalent of cracking open the bolly. Then I noticed my dictionary sitting on my desk, swore loudly, and started to repack again. Joy.

Sunday 15.9.02

Zero hour approaches. No idea exactly what's going to happen to this site when I'm in France, but do check back every now and then, because my ego and my mouth are both far too big for me not to proclaim the world how wonderful I am at least once a week. Next stop Nice...

Monday 16.9.02

Bonjour! Very quick blog to say we've arrived, and all is well. Flat's wonderful, French is, well, French, and Nice is beautiful (like the weather down here...) More when I have time, perhaps tomorrow. :-)
