Tapovan Eco-Tourism Package

If you prefer to experience the unique features of Tapovan in a group situation we now offer the following eco-tourism package:

Day 1    Arrive at Mumbai International Airport and check into pre-booked hotel in Colaba, close to historic Gateway of India, to recuperate. Overnight accommodation included on bed & breakfast basis. If time permits one can take a half day ferry trip to the Elephanta Caves located on an island offshore from the Gateway of India.

Shivdhm.jpg (97863 bytes)Day 2    Depart at 8am for drive north to Tapovan, stopping for lunch in historic Nasik, one of the four sacred cities of India. Reach Tapovan in the evening.

JAMESNJY.jpg (62564 bytes)Day 3    Introduction to Tapovan and a short bullock-cart ride to the local village Ratnapimpri and Shivadham temple. Includes picnic lunch.

Day 4    Rest & Recuperation. Mud bath, steam bath, spinal bath, massage are all available throughout the day. Time may be spent wandering around the orchard and garden areas, exploring the vicinity for crystals and rocks which are to be found by the keen fossicker.

Ellora1.jpg (38912 bytes)Day 5    Depart at 8am for the trip to Ellora Caves, a World Heritage site. The Hindu, Jain and Buddhist caves and shrines were chiselled into perfection between 4th and 9th centuries AD. Overnight halt in Aurangabad.

Ajanta1.jpg (30094 bytes)Day 6    Depart Aurangabad at 8am and proceed to Ajanta Caves. Another World Heritage site, here ancient Indian art achieved its zenith and revealed a dynamic rhythm of life. Return to Tapovan by evening.

Day 7    Rest & Recuperation. Mud baths on rooftop terrace, steam baths, spinal bath, massage, etc available in healing clinic. Rangoli (traditional artform still practised by many Hindu women today) workshop in afternoon with local village ladies.

Day 8    Visit to local village, Bhokarbari and nearby lake. Afternoon opportunities for gardening and cooking.

Day 9    More information on special Healing Fire techniques practiced in Tapovan (Agnihotra). Mantra and Sanskrit class available on request. Various therapeutic baths available.

Narmada_boatride3.jpg (132819 bytes)Day 10    Depart at 5am for Maheshwar on Narmada River, one of India's sacred rivers. Lunch at eco-friendly tourist cottages. Afternoon walk along the banks of Narmada past ancient temples. Take a short boat ride to Jaleshwar Temple for evening Agnihotra followed by picnic tea. Overnight halt.

Imgp0397.jpg (123206 bytes)Day 11    Morning sight-seeing in Fort, village weaving mill and Eternal Fire Temple. After lunch return to Tapovan by evening.

Day 12    Special Ayurvedic cooking class and sampling the cooking. Afternoon opportunities for baths, massage, etc. 

Day 13    Visit local village, Kankraj site of Gorakhnath Temple and nearby Temple of Trees. Evening concert of Bhajans (Hindu hymns) featuring local villagers.

TAJ.JPG (60634 bytes)Day 14    Depart at 8am for the return trip to Mumbai. Lunch en route at Shirdi, sacred place of pilgrimage made famous by the early 20th century Muslim saint, Sai Baba. Drop off in Mumbai at self-booked hotel of your choice.

Assistance available for guests wishing to proceed further north to Jaipur, Agra, New Delhi if required.

Flight bookings to and from Mumbai are your responsibility and need to conform to the tour schedule. Arrival recuperation time is strongly recommended.
