Sola Scriptura Affirmed!

KJV

Sola Scriptura: The teaching that the Scriptures contain all that is necessary for salvation and proper living before God.

Sola Scriptura is affrimed by the RCC long ago! If you are Catholic, you need to beat it out of here! This debate with you is over, unless your church elders were wrong?

  1. "But those who are ready to toil in the most excellent pursuits, will not desist from the search after truth, till they get the demonstration from the Scriptures themselves." (Clement of Alexandria, book 7, ch 16, Scripture the Criterion by Which Truth and Heresy are Distinguished)

  2. "But there is no evidence of this, because Scripture says nothing." ... "The Scripture says nothing of this, although it is not in other instances silent" ..."I do not admit what you advance of your own apart from Scripture." (Tertullian, The Flesh of Christ, ch 6; ch 7)

  3. "Suppose now I should say the city built a theatre and a circus, but the stage ... But this example may be an idle one as being derived from a human circumstance; I will take another, which has the authority of Scripture itself. It says that "God made man of the dust of the ground"" (Tertullian, Against Hermogenes, ch 31)

  4. The holy and divinely inspired writings are sufficient of themselves ALONE to make known the truth. (St. Athanasius 296-373, Orat. Contr. Gent. Tom. I)

  5. What the Scriptures have not declared, you will never find. (St. Athanasius, De S. Trin. Dial.)

  6. Do not believe me simply, unless you receive the proof of what I say from Holy Scripture. (St. Cyril of Jerusalem, Catech. A.D. 348)

  7. "Such is their error, such their pestilent teaching; to support it they borrow the words of Scripture, perverting its meaning and using the ignorance of men as their opportunity of gaining credence for their lies. Yet it is certainly by these same words of God that we must come to understand the things of God." (Hilary of Poitiers, On the Trinity, Book IV, 14)

  8. How can we use those things, which we find not in the Scriptures! (St. Ambrose c. 339-397, Offic. Lib. 1, c. 23)

  9. For this is the exhortation of the Scripture given, that the man of God may be rendered perfect by it; without this therefore he cannot be perfect. Thou hast the Scriptures, he says, in place of me. If thou wouldest learn anything, thou mayest learn it from them. And if he thus wrote to Timothy, who was filled with the Spirit, how much more to us! "Thoroughly furnished unto all good works"; not merely taking part in them, he means, but "thoroughly furnished." (John Chrysostom, 405 AD, Homily 9, commentary on 2 Tim 3:16-17)

  10. Bring me not human reasonings and syllogisms, for I rely on the divine Scripture ALONE. Theodoret of Cyrus c. 393-466, Dial. I. Atrept.)

  11. The canon of the Scriptures is perfect, and in itself suffices to the full, and more, for all demands. (St. Vincent of Lérins, Adversus profanes omnium novitates haereticorum commonitorium A.D.434)

  12. There is, brethren, one God, the knowledge of whom we gain from the Holy Scriptures, and from no other source. For just as a man, if he wishes to be skilled in the wisdom of this world, will find himself unable to get at it in any other way than by mastering the dogmas of philosophers, so all of us who wish to practice piety will be unable to learn its practice from any other quarter than the oracles of God.
    Whatever things, then, the Holy Scriptures declare, at these let us took; and whatsoever things they teach, these let us learn; and as the Father wills our belief to be, let us believe; and as He wills the Son to be glorified, let us glorify Him; and as He wills the Holy Spirit to be bestowed, let us receive Him.
    Not according to our own will, nor according to our own mind, nor yet as using violently those things which are given by God, but even as He has chosen to teach them by the Holy Scriptures, so let us discern them.
    Hippolytus, Extant Works, Against the Heresy of One Noetus
    There are loads and loads more, all showing the the founding Fathers of the Roman Catholic Church believed that scripture alone is all one needs. You do not need a Pope, a Bishop or a Priest. NOW here is what the bible has to say.
1 Corinitains 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

These verses clearly show to me, that we are not to rely on ANY mans teaching or traditions, but God's alone. If the doctrine is not in the bible, then you don't need it. It is of man!
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

and ye need not that any man teach you!! but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things,
Folks take in what each man tells you, and pray on it, compare it with the scripture and let the Holy Spirit instill in you if it is correct! Take no man's words as God's words, even the Popes! Having said that, read what other verses in the bible might not be being followed by the RCC.
Mathew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
( Call no man your Father on earth, for you have but one Father. See these are the verses the RCC hid for years, not wanting the layman to be able to read the bible. Why? )

Luke 5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
( They did not know Jesus was God, so they didn't think He could forgive sin. Catholics bring this verse up, when trying to prove to others Christ is God in the flesh. And that is true, what they don't take into account is, they admit only God can forgive sin, yet their priest will say "Your sins are forgiven, say 5 to 1000 hails Marys (depending on the sin)" Yet only God can forgive sin. If anyone else says it, they are setting themself up as a Savior. )

Luke 1:28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
( Luke 1:28 implies a high standing with God, the point, is we as a family of God should not take either view to the extreem, we should not hold Mary any less then what she was, VERY favored and blessed of God and we should not hold her to more then she is, a saint, and not salvation, no men of God pray to anyone but God in the bible, nor does mary save ones soul from damnation, but she is a blessed saint.

The fact is, God chose one women He saw was fit to carry the child that was promised. He favored Mary deeply, to have her bare the Christ Child, and we should always have high reguard for her, this is in no way saying we should pray to her, or set her up a deity. )

Mathew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
(No men of God in the bible prayed to anyone else at all, ever, you will not find one. Not even Jesus. When Jesus gave up the ghost, the vail in the temple was ripped in two as a sign, you have a open line to God. When people say hail marys, they are in worship and prayer, most times, kneeing at the altar. Mary, bless her soul would be the FIRST to tell you to stop that.)

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
( Those verses there seem tailor made for the RCC! Please folks, eat meat on fridays, they only time you should not eat meat is during fasting, and thats because you are not to be eating anything, save perhaps unpleasant bread if one can't control the flesh. Don't ever let anyone tell you, you can not eat any meat, for any other reason. Second tell your priest God said it was okay to take a wife!)

1 Timothy 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
( Give them verse to your bishops as well.)

Mat 5:44-46 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
(In 1382, John Wycliffe translated Saint Jerome's Latin Vulgate version into Anglo-Saxon. Wycliffe, was persecuted, and when he died of natural causes, was dug up, tried, hanged, and burned. Wycliffe was condemned by the church and died of a stroke on New Year's Eve in 1384. But his memory and influence continued so strong that he was formally condemned again thirty years later at the Council of Constance. Orders were given for his writings to be destroyed, his bones exhumed and burned, and the ashes to be thrown into the nearby river. You of course won't read about any of that in the Catholic Encyclopedia of course.)

What

He might just as well be kissing the Satanic Bible! This is a slap in the face of every Christian that has been murdered by Muslims. Let's get this straight. Muslims are ANTICHRISTS! Their doctrine is antichristian, it does not state that Jesus was the Son of God, but rather calls Him a mere prophet. That is blasphemy! Why are not all the Catholics in a uproar over this!? Where are the all John Hus' of today in the RCC, the Luthers and Wycliffes? What are you doing today about YOUR Church! The RCC belongs to YOU! Here are just some of the verses your Church leader is in direct dissension with.

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
(Muslims do not confess that Jesus is the Christ, therefore they are antichrists.)

1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
(The Quran denies that Jesus is the Christ! The Pope, your spiritual leader kisses a antichrist doctrine! He needs to publicly repent for that. . . He has caused nothing but confusion among Catholics.)

1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
( Again that shows the Koran/Quran to be antichrist doctrine.)

The Noble Quran - Dr.Khan & Dr.Hilali Surah:112.Al-Ikhlas.

  1. Say (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)): "He is Allah, (the) One.
  2. "Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks).
  3. "He begets not, nor was He begotten;
  4. "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him."

Now let's compare that to the verses in the bible.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Hebrews 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

(Those and loads and loads of verses bring the Quran in direct conflict with the doctrine of the bible. And this is how we are to deal with this antichrist doctrine, and people.)

Galations 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

( YOU couldn't get me to kiss the Quran anymore then Nebuchadnezzar could get Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to worhsip his golden image!)

* *

( Look, I know the traditons of men in the RCC, and why they use the unpside down cross. Yet there is no proof by the founding elders of the church that Peter was ever a Pope of Rome, let alone the first one. This tradition comes from a roman pagan infact. It's just another case of mens traditions creeping into the RRC. You have to let go of these and believe on Jesus Christ alone. This does nothing to forward the word and truth of Christ. Fact is there is no support in the bible that Peter was even in Rome, let alone died there. The RCC teaches, Peter was the first Bishop of Rome. If this is true, one would expect to find early writings to this supposed fact. Yet we find just the opposite. Nothing. In fact they name "Linus" as the first Pope. )

(Paul seemed to make special effort to form greetings to the heads in Rome in chapter 16 of Romans. The only reason why Paul would ignore his own superior would be that Peter was not in Rome, and was not his superior.

Again one wonders if Peter was the bishop of Rome, what right did Paul have to send the Romans instructions in the Faith? Would he not be usurping his superior's authority? Would it not have been Peter's responsibility to teach the Faith to his own diocese? Yet we have no record, in the Bible or elsewhere, of Peter issuing instructions to the diocese of Rome. What an amazing oversight by a supposedly infallible Vicar!

Also, Paul writes from Rome to Timothy, and claims only Luke is there with him, all the other faithful, have left.

Next, if the pope is infallibility to some degree. " The Roman Pontiff, head of the college of bishops, enjoys this infallibility in virtue of his office, when, as supreme pastor and teacher of all the faithful." Why did Paul have to correct Peter on his separating himself from the gentiles?

If Peter was Vicar of Christ, meaning Christ first chosen to lead the church, wouldn't this mean Paul would be usurping Christ Himself in fact?

Also if you come back at me with the verses saying Peter was in Babylon (1 Peter 5:13), and that it means Rome, then it is the same Babylon talked of in Revelation. Revelation 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Hey maybe you guys have something there? Don't Roman Catholics call it Mother Church? So lets look at it from an non Catholic perspective shall we. You claim Babylon means Rome, and in Revelation it speaks exceedingly contemptible of this city and is the city with which Satan reigns from. Catholics call the church Mother Church, Revelation describes this city your church rules from as Mother of Harlots. It proclaims somebody from this city called Babylon will proclaim he is God, your Pope takes the title Vicar, and claims at times he is infallible. It also shows Babylon to be over many nations, how many nations does the Catholic Church inhabit and at least have some kind of secular control? Even if by voters? And yes, before we get into it, the papal bull Innocent III proclaimed as have power over secular matters is still active, the RCC still has it on the books, so to speak. More on the later on down the line. So see, to the non-Catholic eye, you can see how one might feel there are worse times ahead for the RCC?)

WHAT?

(So who uses the inverted cross as a symbol of their beliefs. The Church off Satan, Temple of Set, Left Hand Path, First Church of Satan, The New Church of Satanic Unity and just about every other satanic group, Anton Szandor LaVey, Charles Manson, Death Metal Bands, Marilyn Mason and oh yeah, The Roman Catholic Church!)

The point of all this? The RCC is clinging to man made traditions. When doing this, adding to what is already provided, it is in effect saying "Christ did not leave us all we need to know." We need the Pope and Bishops, priests and nuns to tell us how to fulfill the wishes of Christ. Yet their own founding elders clearly believed all one needed to live a morally acceptable life with God, was Christ and His message contained in the Word of God. Second with all the monstrosities commited or bequested by the Popes of the past, how dare anyone say all Popes are Vicar, let me explain to you what this title means.

The Pope, Bishop of Rome and Peter's successor, is the perpetual and visible source and foundation of the unity both of the bishops and of the whole company of the faithful. For the Roman Pontiff, by reason of his office as Vicar of Christ, and as pastor of the entire Church has full, supreme, and universal power over the whole Church, a power which he can always exercise unhindered. Catechism of the Catholic Church ARTICLE 9-#882

The Roman Pontiff, head of the college of bishops, enjoys this infallibility in virtue of his office, when, as supreme pastor and teacher of all the faithful—who confirms his brethren in the faith—he proclaims by a definitive act a doctrine pertaining to faith or morals. . . . The infallibility promised to the Church is also present in the body of bishops when, together with Peter's successor, they exercise the supreme Magisterium," above all in an Ecumenical Council.418 When the Church through its supreme Magisterium proposes a doctrine for belief as being divinely revealed, and as the teaching of Christ, the definitions "must be adhered to with the obedience of faith. This infallibility extends as far as the deposit of divine Revelation itself. (Catechism of the Catholic Church ARTICLE 9-#891)

Particular Churches are fully catholic through their communion with one of them, the Church of Rome "which presides in charity. For with this church, by reason of its pre-eminence, the whole Church, that is the faithful everywhere, must necessarily be in accord. Indeed, from the incarnate Word's descent to us, all Christian churches everywhere have held and hold the great Church that is here [at Rome] to be their only basis and foundation since, according to the Savior's promise, the gates of hell have never prevailed against her.Catechism of the Catholic Church ARTICLE 9-#832

( Clearly to me and most others, including a lot of Catholics, the honest ones, this is showing that the pope in Rome, speaks for Christ, at certain times. Is head of all the faithful believers and faithful churches. Note it does not say faithful Catholics or faithful Catholic Churches, but proclaims to be the head of the church as a whole. Let's get this straight from the start, I will never be a Catholic and NEVER will I place myself in subject to the Pope or anyone else that matters. NO MAN, has any right to claim to speak for Christ, ever, Christ, when ready to talk to the world, will do so.)

The Pope enjoys, by divine institution, "supreme, full, immediate, and universal power in the care of souls" (CD 2). (Catechism of the Catholic Church ARTICLE 9-#937) ( That is and out and out lie, the Pope has never had power of care of my soul. A lie. Someone wants to try and tell me every Pope has "supreme, full, immediate, and universal power in the care of souls" when I can start to name countless atrocities they have committed? How can the Papacy be "by divine institution" when so many popes have done so much evil, or had others do it, men under their direct charge? How can the Papacy be "by divine institution" when the RCC has excommunicated and denounce past Popes as heretics? They need to at least stick with the same lies. Yes I said lies, that state up there is a bold and out and out lie.

In my studies on the Pope and Papacy, I have come across many books, articles and web sites that seem to show a bias for or against the RCC. Then, two days ago, I came across this site. These guys use facts and facts alone, and for the most part do no interject their own beliefs. For a MUCH better over all view of the RCC, visit this very well researched SITE! )
