Past: Meiko was born into a wealthy family to unnamed parents. She's an only child. Over the years, the marriage started to crumble and the two wandered apart emotionally. They only stay together because neither one wanted the sole resonspibility of Meiko and it was easier to stay legally wed for financial reasons.

She dated Shinichi Namura since she was 15 when they first met in the school library. When he came her teacher, their relationship had to go underground.

She met Miki in the seventh grade and has been steadfast friends ever since. She's also friends with Ginta Suou, and, eventually, Yuu Matsuura at school. She's quite popular and many of the boys wanted to date her, but she rebuked them because of her relationship with Namura.

Personality: She's a mature demeanor, sophisticated and reserved. She's a silent type who observes more than acts. She has a gentle, quiet sense of humor. She's a supportive shoulder (especially to Miki) and usually in the role of listening advisor. She's usually involved somehow in the numerous love polygons about both directly (Yuu-Miki-Ginta as a mediator and ear) or indirectly (Satoshi-Meiko-Namura-Ryouko). She's generally an stable emotional pillar, but she has her own bouts and troubles. Very elusive and holding of her secrets, she hides behind a smile and bright demeanor alot. Behind the emotional masks, she can be prone to depression and hurt easily, dependent on outside pillars for support such as Miki (seems to have a inner problem with self-esteem). She can blunt and her words can be taken the wrong way, but she trys to be gentle and understanding to others. She's very stubborn and can be cold to what she considers a bother. She can be suspicious of people and somewhat accusing such as when Yuu broke up with Miki for no apparent reason and she cornered him in the airport. She's an intelligent girl and creative since her writings have won in contests. Her views can be idealistic sometimes making her a little naive.
