Connection: Meiko's parents

Meiko's parents despise each other. They only stay married for financial reasons. Always taking on lovers, the two constantly badger each other in every way possible (usually in the bottom of a bottle to boot). Because of the constant arguing, the Akizuki household is a very negative surrounding. Meiko often becomes depressed and hurt from it and runs to others like Miki or Namura for emotional support.

Connection: Meiko's best friend

Meiko's best friend for a long time, Miki is a major pillar in Meiko's life. The lively girl provides Meiko with an emotional support from her homelife. She basically is Meiko's sister. They exchange a diary recording all their emotions in the present situations and a voice recorder. Meiko is also the emotional support for Miki, too. Through out all the trails in her life, Miki confided an consoled in Meiko, seeking her advice and her help. Meiko as confides in Miki with most things. She ran to Miki when Namura left for Hiroshima and she told Miki first when she planned to go to Hiroshima to get back together with him. When Miki was having serious doubts about her and Yuu's relationship while he was in New York, Meiko came up and paid their way for them to visit Yuu in New York.

Connection: Miki's boyfriend

Though he entered the group of friends through Miki, Yuu soon became friends with Meiko and the others in Miki's group of friends. Although it was a tenuous friendship in the beginning, she soon came to trust him as she does in Miki and Ginta. She trusted him with the secret of her relationship with Namura when he stumbled upon one of their liasons in the library. She usually questioning of him when Miki is hurting emotionally from a strain in their relationship. Yuu broke up with Miki one time and never gave a straight answer as of why. Meiko cornered him before he boarded the plane back to New York and started to interrogate him on why.

Connection: Meiko's love

Namura was Meiko's teacher. He was also her love. The two have been dating for about three years, their relationship kept secret bacause of the scandals it would cause. They met in the library one day when Meiko was in junior high. It became their meeting place from then on. It was his picture that she put in her school medallion. She later gave the medallion to him. He became her other emotional support from her houselife. While Miki was a friendship connection, he was a romantic connection. After their relationship was discovered, Namura resigned from his position as a teacher and left for Hiroshima to help his father in the family real estate business.Before he left, he dropped the medallion back at her place. She tried to leave with him at the train station, but he wouldn't have it saying she had a bright future ahead of her and that he would only drag her down. Just before he got on the train, she hugged him in the back while slipping her medallion into his shirt pocket. He later mailed it back to her.

Connection: "rival" for Namura

Ryouko is a teacher at Toryo High School and the coach of the girls on the tennis club, partner with Namura who is the boy coach. Ryouko's also been in love with Namura since their school days together. She never confessed it till after he and Meiko broke up. When he left, Namura requested of her to look after Meiko and make sure she gets on with her life. Ryouko became a mentor after then to Meiko, encouraging her in her writing and blossoming romance with Satoshi Miwa. She kept in contact with Namura, though, and kept him updated on Meiko's success.
