Amber

Age: 10-11 years

Breed: Cocker Spaniel

AKA: Beautiful, Baby, Dog, Lovey

Tricks:  Basic obedience (sit, stay, lay down), Roll Over, Shake paws, Wave, Crawl, Wait, Go Find

Bio: Adopted at the Gwinnett Humane Society when she was about 2 years.  Very anti-social towards strangers, but otherwise very lovable.  Her bark is worse than her bite, except for that one time she bit the plumber by accident.  Adorably pudgy.  Once swallowed a rubber superball that blocked her system and she had to have surgery to remove it.  Has under active thyroid, hip dysplasia and has developed arthritis.

Jacen

Age: 3-4 years

Breed: Guinea pig mutt (Abbyssianian/ Peruvian, I think)

Previous Name:  Jacen was previously Cheddar.  I’ve renamed all of my guinea pigs to date.

Renamed After:  one of Princess Leia’s twins

AKA: Little Man, Little Boy, Mister, Pig

Favorites: Boxes, hay of all sorts, bananas, sleep

Bio:  Unusually large for a guinea pig – not just fat, but long too.  I originally was going to be the foster home for him and his buddy Jaina. They were supposedly given up because they had a litter, but I wound up keeping the pair and they never had any more babies.  Jaina died from rabbit-borne pneumonia and Caliban was adopted to keep him company, but Caliban died of a swift respiratory infection 7 months later.  In three months two little guinea girls were adopted and he now lives with them in a double condo.

LambChop

Age: Less than 1 year

Breed: Himalayan Abbyssinian guinea pig

Previous name: Kelly

Renamed After:  The puppet, obviously.

AKA:  Pig, Schmutz

Favorites:  She loves life in general

Bio:  Sister of Casey.  Both were given up to the Atlanta Humane Society sometime in December, featured on their website on my birthday, and adopted in February.  They act like sisters (nosing each other out of the way, stealing food, nibbling hair, etc.) or otherwise show what’s known in guinea pig circles as “bonded pair behavior”.  LambChop’s a very adventurous little escape artist and likes to flirt with Jacen through the partition.  She is an avid hair eater and keeps Casey trimmed short and nibbles on Jacen and Amber when she can reach them, but has never had a hairball problem.  She does have a few bald spots though.

Mecaselin

Age: Less than 1 year

Breed: Shorthair (or possibly a Silkie but LambChop eats her hair so we may never know)

Previous name: Jenny

Renamed After:  A road we passed on the way home from the shelter

AKA:  Casey, Scaredy Pig

Favorites: Hiding in her tent, oatmeal tubes

Bio: Sister of LambChop.  Both were given up to the Atlanta Humane Society sometime in December, featured on their website on my birthday, and adopted in February.  She is the more timid of the two but is faster to make friends with people with food.

Bunny

Age: 2-5 yrs, probably

Breed: Small and gray.  I’m not too familiar with rabbit types.

Previous name: Not renamed, though “Paris” was suggested.

AKA:  Funny Bunny, Chubby Bunny, Monster

Tricks:  Up (on a shelf), Stay

Favorites: Yogurt treats

Bio:   Given up for unclear/contradicting reasons, I volunteered to be Bunny’s foster home when she showed up at the Humane Society one day.  She’s brave, very smart, very fussy, and litter trained.  She can be affectionate.  She likes to follow people when she thinks no one’s looking and to play with the cuffs of pants. *BUNNY IS LOOKING FOR A PERMANENT HOME.  Email me for details*
