The main character of Xenogears, Fei was brought to the Lahan village 3 years ago by a strange man,heavily wounded and near fatal.In the care of Lahan villagers,Fei managed to put through.He appeared to have lost his memory and had no idea how or whom he learned his martial arts from.Living a simple and joyful life,Fei is a very talented artist and painter.His best friends include Timothy and Alice.He is much respected by the villagers of Lahan,and adored by the kids whom he taugh his martial arts to.Everything seems so well for Fei.But one night,Lahan was attacked by a group of Gears.Trying to save his village,Fei boarded a deserted Gear,not knowing how to pilot it. In the midst of battle,Fei suddenly lost control after seeing Timothy being taken out by the enemy Gears.A huge explosion took out the enemy Gears.Not only that,Lahan was completely destroyed.Almost half of the villagers were killed.Not knowing what happened,Fei left Lahan in guilt and began the journey to discover his true self.
Fei is the son of Khan Wong.After his mother death when he was 8 ,Fei's world was full of darkness and pain.In order to avoid the fact that he actually killed his own mother,he spawned another evil personality within him to bare all those things he hates.This enables Fei to turn into Id.To save his son from the hands of Grahf,Khan sealed Fei's memories and brought him to the Lahan village. Later,you'll notice that Fei looks identical to Lacan,which is Grahf's real name.Not only that,he too resembles Kim,a once brilliant scientist and so-called father to Emeralda.

He was assigned the task of monitoring Fei's growth and development, which pretty much explains why he stuck with Fei at the beginning of the game.
However, Citan will still stick with Fei and help him to save the world. Citan will be the one who constantly suggests the party's main strategies and actions. Initially, Citan uses his fists to attack the enemies. However, he would eventually switch to using a katana and would become much more powerful and prove to be an invaluable ally to Fei. Citan has a family on the land and his wife is Yui and his daughter's name is Midori.

Bart is the son of the late King of Aveh, Edbart Fatima the IV, the 18th King of Aveh. Shakhan, with the help of Solaris, took over the rule of Aveh after Bart's father died and forced Bart and his crew to go into exile. Bart, along with his faithful servant, Maison, and his "friend", Sigurd, then became pirates, all the while constantly plotting to overthrow Shakhan from the throne. Along the way, they met Fei and Citan and many other invaluable allies to aid them in their quest of overthrowing Shakhan. Eventually, after defeating Shakhan, he took over the throne at Bledavick, the capital of Aveh and became the 19th King of Aveh. However, he then carried out his late father's wish and made Aveh a republic and abandoned the monarchy. He has a half-brother called Sigurd. Bart did not realize that Sigurd was his brother until reading his father's will and Maison reluctantly told him about Sigurd's past.

From then on, he developed a sense of hate for his father who had abandoned them. However, he later discovered, with the help of Fei, Jessie and the others, that the Ethos was actually putting up a false front after all. The Ethos was really working for Solaris all the time. With the help of his father, Jessie and Fei and the others, he killed Bishop Stone. From then on, his relationship with his father turned for the better and they made up. Billy has a sister called Primera. He has been taking care of Primera since the Wels killed their mother. However, Primera lost her voice after witnessing the death of her mother when young.
