Alias Online Adventure Game Rules
The Alias Online Adventure is an adventure game that will require your wits, cleverness, and a little internet prowess. Each adventure is comprised of 4-6 chapters, and each chapter is comprised of 4-6 missions. The length of each adventure, chapter and mission varies, but most adventures will last 4-6 weeks, each chapter will last a 14-21 days, and each mission will last 10-30 minutes. The game is designed so that you can play as much or as little as you want to. You can play one mission a day for a few minutes, or you can play an entire chapter in a few hours. It's up to you!
1. Starting the game
You can start the Alias Online Adventure by clicking on the "Join the CIA" button on the Alias Online Adventure launch page. Clicking the button will spawn a pop-up connection to the SecNetComm, your primary game tool. No downloading is necessary, as the game is entirely web-based.
2. Using the SecNetComm
The SecNetComm connects you directly to Agent Weiss, your CIA handler. You can interact directly with him by typing in the text field at the bottom of the SecNetComm, and hitting Enter. As Agent Weiss is a very busy man, he tends to focus only on work-related issues and your missions, but sometimes you can get him to relax and open up a bit (but not often). He won't do anything until you let him know you're interested in joining the CIA.
3. Starting missions
After letting Agent Weiss know of your interest in becoming an agent, Agent Weiss will assign you a mission Codeword. To begin that mission, just type "Codeword: x", where x is the unique codeword.
4. Going on missions
Your first missions will be very easy math, logic, or word problems, or "Fetch it" missions, in which you must go out on the World Wide Web and find the answer to your mission. As your missions progress, they will gradually become more difficult, and will include contacting other characters, visiting several web sites at a time, and using your own internet knowledge. Specific missions can also include several of these tasks linked together in order to find the solution.
5. Help with missions
Agent Weiss is not interested in helping you, as he wants to see what you are capable of on your own. But what he doesn't know can't hurt him, so you are free to use your own skills or tools, ask a friend for help, or contact other agents via the ABC Mesage Boards for help. Be warned, though, some "agents" may be SD-6 operatives, putting out disinformation.
6. Completing missions
When you have solved your mission and are ready to report back to Agent Weiss, you should enter your solutions by typing in your unique mission codeword, a colon, and your answer. In other words, if your codeword was "x", and the solution was "y", you'd type "x:y". If you have successfully completed your mission, Agent Weiss will assign you your next mission codeword.
7. Completing chapters
The end of each chapter will require you to email your information to a field operative, who can then act on the vital information you have uncovered as an internet agent. You will then receive an email back, revealing if your information was good or not. If it was good, you will be given a Codeword and a start time when you may begin the next chapter.
8. Winning the game
Each adventure is completed successfully when all chapters have been solved, and the story has been resolved.
