ALERT LENGTH
This option allows you to select how long the alert will last when
an incoming page is received. This gives you the flexibility of
choosing an extremely short alert of 2 seconds or longer alerts (8
  seconds or 21 seconds).

BEEP ON BAD DATA
This option selects one of two actions when the pager detects an
  error in the incoming message:

If Beep on Bad Data is 'Yes', the pager will alert and display
an 'E' in the last position of the last screen of the message to
  indicate that an error occurred.

If Beep on Bad Data is 'No', the pager discards the entire message
  and does not alert.

CODE ALERTS
Each of the pager's codes can be programmed to alert with either:

     a. Beep Tone four function alerts.
     b. Unique alerts
     c. Pleasing (Arpeggio, Ring, Astral, or Triangle) alerts.

The Code Alert chosen will apply to both codes.

CODE TYPE
Both pager codes can be assigned as Individual and/or Group Call.
When Individual is selected, only a single user will receive the
  incoming messages.

Pagers equipped with the same Group Call code can all receive the
same messages at the same time.

CODING FORMAT
The Coding Format is the signalling format which is used to
communicate with the pager. There are three formats to choose
from: POCSAG 512, POCSAG 1200 and POCSAG 2400.

COMPLETELY SILENT
Choosing this option causes the pager to be completely silent. The
pager will not chirp or vibrate when there is an incoming message
or when there are unread messages in memory, because Reminder Alert
Enable, and Enable Vibrator will be forced to 'No'.

CUSTOM POWER UP SCREEN
Whatever is entered for this option will be displayed by the pager
upon power up. Only the following are allowed:
           * digits 0-9
           * a space " "
           * a dash "-"

The message cannot contain any of the codes (A and B) in any
fashion, be it forwards or backwards, or separated by a space, a
dash or any non numeric character. If you wish the pager to power
up normally, then leave this field with dashes.

Note: A blank power up screen is not allowed. If the power
up screen is blank, it will be reset to dashes.

CUSTOMER REQUEST DATA INVERSION
This option allows the user to override the default data inversion
  setting.

CRYSTAL DRIFT ADJUST
This option allows for error adjustment of the timer crystal.
This adjustment should only be performed by a trained service
  technician.

The valid choices are -29 thru 29. The value you choose will be the
new second's adjustment value. This value is set at the factory
and should not be changed unless the pager timer crystal is
  replaced.

DISPLAY SLOT NUMBER
When selected, this option allows the pager to display the location
in memory of the message you are reading.

DISPLAY TYPE
This option sets the display to color or monochrome. A selection of
"Auto" will allow the computer to determine the setting which best
  matches the hardware.

Note: Some computer monitors support color through different shades
of a single color. For these monitors, a selection of "Mono"
         is recommended.

ENABLE VIBRATOR
When placed in "silent mode", selection of this option will cause
the pager to emit a vibration, as well as, a visual alert, when
it receives a message. This allows users to silently receive and be
  alerted to pages.

If this option is not selected while in "silent mode", the pager will
  emit an audible "chirp" alert.

FREQUENCY
You must enter the frequency the pager is to operate at. Valid
  ranges are:
        138.0000 to 173.9999 MHz
        278.0000 to 284.0000 MHz
        406.0000 to 423.0000 MHz
        435.0000 to 512.0000 MHz
        929.0000 to 932.0000 MHz

FUNCTION TYPES
This field determines which type of data will be associated with
each function. The different pager functions are as follows:

                           X - Not Active
                           T - Tone Only
                           N - Numeric
                           O - OTA

HARD-CONTACT - COMMUNICATIONS PORT
Determines the serial port used for communicating with the Motorola
  Universal Programming Interface.

  Valid values are COM1, COM2, COM3 and COM4.

INVENTORY CONTROL NUMBER
The Inventory Control Number is an identification number which you
assign to the pager. This number is stored in the pager. Unlike
the Serial Number of the pager, this number can be changed per your
needs. It is also important to note that the data entered in this
field is the default filename used to create the archive file for
this pager. Therefore, it is important to enter a unique Inventory
Control Number for each pager if you are saving each pager's
  configuration to disk.

  F3 - READ/PROGRAM Pager
This section allows you to read and change a pager's options
and configuration. Selecting this option will try to read a
pager connected to the Motorola Universal Programming
Interface. After th e contents have been read from the
pager the READ/PROGRAM menu will be displayed.

If a pager is not connected, an error message is displayed,
then you may proceed to the READ/PROGRAM menu if desired.

F4 - RETRIEVE an Archive File
This section allows you to retrieve one of the pager
configurations which you have saved to disk. If you have a
problem with a specific pager, you can recall the configuration
file from disk and program a new pager with the original
options. This feature also allows you to retrieve a common
configuration from one of your template files and program a new
       pager with less effort.
The files are stored in the \GOLDLINE\ARCHIVE.DIR directory.

  F9 - SETUP computer configuration
This section allows you to change your computer configuration.
You may change the communications port, used to communicate
with the Motorola Universal Programming Interface, your display
       type, and the software password.

 F10 - EXIT to DOS
Will exit the software and return to the DOS prompt.

When this option is selected, the pager will automatically insert
dashes when displaying certain messages. The message must be
exactly 10 numeric characters long. It must not already contain any
formatting characters, and must not contain errors. If the
option is not selected, then the terminal must format all messages.

OUT OF RANGE
When the pager is outside the coverage area of the paging system
continuously for the time selected, the 'Out-of-Range' screen is
displayed. This option allows the user to select the out of range
time limit. If the time selected is 'None', then this feature is
  disabled.

PAGER CODES
The Code of your pager is actually the address of the pager. This
address is an identifier which allows the pager to decide which
messages being transmitted are intended for it.

  For POCSAG pagers:
     - The address must be 7 digits long (valid digits are 0 - 9).
     - Code A and Code B addresses must be in the same frame.
     - A valid POCSAG address must be in one of the following ranges:
                   0000008 - 2007663
                   2007672 - 2045055
                   2045064 - 2097143

If you violate any of the restrictions, the program will notify you
of the problem. Closer inspection of the codes may indicate a
mistyped code. If this does not seem to be the problem, please
contact someone who is knowledgeable about the technical aspects of
  code assignments.

PAGER PASSWORD
For security purposes your pager has been equipped with a password.
For optimum pager security, each pager should be assigned its own
unique password. This minimizes the possibility of someone
tampering with your pagers. Assigning a common password to all
your pagers should be discouraged since someone who wants to tamper
with your pagers would only have to know a single password to do
  so.

The Pager Password is 10 characters long and may consist of any
combination of A-Z, 0-9 and space.

PAGER PASSWORD REQUIRED
For security purposes your pager has been assigned a password.
Activation of this option will require the password to be entered
when you are reading or programming the pager.

This option restricts reading and programming the pager to only
those who know the pager's password.

PEOPLES REPUBLIC of CHINA
When selected, the pager will use a special Peoples Republic of
  China message character set.

PRIORITY FUNCTIONS
This field determines if each function has Priority Override or
  not.

When a function has Priority Override, an incoming page will always
alert audibly ( unless the pager is in the Completely Silent mode).
Priority Override can be selected on any of the pager's addresses.

PRODUCT PATH
This is the full pathname of the directory in which the Motorola
Programming Software files are located. This parameter is
  initialized only during software installation.

REMINDER ALERT ENABLE
Choosing this option causes the pager to remind you when there are
unread pages in memory. An alert will sound every 2 minutes if
there are unread pages. If the pager is in the audible mode, a
chirp will sound. If the pager is in the silent mode, the vibrator
will be turned 'On' during this period. In Completely Silent mode,
  this option is deactivated.

SEQUENTIAL LOCKOUT
For wide area coverage some systems use multiple transmitters
located throughout the coverage area. By transmitting the pager
information sequentially from one station to the next, the
likelihood that the pager will receive the information is high. By
setting a sequential lockout time, the pager will ignore duplicate
transmissions within that time period and will not alert more than
  once.

SOFTWARE PASSWORD
To protect your Programming Software from unauthorized use, you may
put a password on the software. You may remove the password for
this program or you can change the password to something new. If
you leave this area blank, you will not need to enter a password to
execute this program. If you are not installing the software be
sure to save the new configuration using F8 before exiting.

TIME ENABLE
This option will provide the time of day on the display when the
  pager is in standby mode.

TIME FORMAT
This option determines the display format of the time.
          12 HOUR --> 2:00 PM
          24 HOUR --> 14:00

TIME STAMPING
With this option selected, each incoming message will be preceded
by a screen that shows the time of day when the message was
  received.

UNIQUE ALERTS MENU
This menu allows the user to enter a unique alert for each coding
  address.

Each function has its own alert. Therefore, each code has four
alerts that consist of 1 second cadences that are repeated. Each
alert is broken down into 16 time slices, thus each time slice is
1/16 of a second long. A music symbol signifies the alert signal
being 'on' for 1/16 of a second and the bar symbol signifies the
alert signal being 'off' for 1/16 of a second.

Note: The first position is always 'on'.
